What did you do in the garden today?

:D I need some advice please.
I am wondering what to do with my kiddie pool with my strawberries in it. I'm worried I might lose them over the winter. Any help is appreciated.

I assume you hope to leave them in the kiddie pool over the winter? Can you place it on the south side of a building and insulate with straw? I put some of my potted stuff, herbs, fig, etc., on the south side of my house hoping the reflective heat and warmth from the logs will help them winter over.

Does the pool have good drainage? IMO, mice and rats shouldn't be any more of a problem in the pool than they would if the strawberries were planted in the ground. Berries are typically mulched to keep the roots from heaving out of the ground with the frequent freeze/thaw cycles through the late fall and early spring. If you have access to some bagged leaves, I'd bank around the pool with them, and then mulch over the top of the plants with a couple of inches of straw. Don't bother moving the pool. Too much work, and no real reason to. Note my screen name. The L word!!!!

Thanks lazy gardener I appreciate your help. The pool does have good drainage. We have tons of leaves we need to vac up so I can pack plenty around the pool. I have some need to get some straw.

If you have hay, you can use that, but, if your strawberry pool is fairly weed free, you might prefer to spend the money on straw.

I planted some carrots in the greenhouse today. :)
What planting zone are you in? I didn't get any carrots in. Wondering if it would be a waste of seed to plant some now. Freeze up in green house is several weeks away.

Some of the green beans I'm letting go to seed, it's such a beautiful color!

Also, can any one help me ID these, I assume that their some sort of brassica but I'm not sure what.
