What did you do in the garden today?

Cousin lives in Wyoming apparently it's crossing on or really near her home. Says the stores are having a hard time keeping groceries on the shelves.

guess the town they invading is out of groceries and gas trying to get more in

Congrats on being caneless!

I am so looking forward to next year and having a huge garden! This year was mostly in containers. Some things thrive in containers and other things don't do so well.

I have been blessed that I have had peppers, tomatoes, greens, and fruits to give to the animals. No canning for me this year. First year in a long time that there wasn't extra to can. :(

Down day for me today. I watered. Spent all day yesterday at local animal shelter helping out with "Clear the Shelter Day". It was really great, but really tiring. Concrete floor all day wasn't kind to my joints. But sooo worth it! :wootWe placed over 200 animals, though I haven't seen the final tally yet. Everything from fish and hamsters to cats and dogs.:bun Only time I've ever been there that I wasn't tempted to bring something home! :lau

A reader asked me for the Poison Ivy salve recipe, so I am posting it here, just in case others want to try it.

I have used it to treat PI, and it lessened a rash to 4 - 5 days, when it otherwise would have lasted at least 6 weeks on me.

It's a good salve to use for any skin condition. Hubby has cleared a fungal rash with it, I've treated fungal toe nails with it. It's very soothing.

For some reason this thread stop giving me notifications. Oh well.

I have been very busy and didn't get out to my garden for a while. Today I brought in a few tiny tomatoes, a hot pepper, 5lbs of zucchini and 3lbs of green beans. For some reason or another a few of my tomato plants have leaves that are turning BRIGHT orange/yellow. Just on one side.

This is somewhat misleading, though. 5lbs of zucchini is a single zucchini.

The green beans are a little over ripe. Some of them are a bit meaty and chewy. I spent the last 4-5 days prepping hard for a surprise birthday party I was throwing and didn't get the harvest any, but now I have a HUGE number of greenbeans. Recipes? Suggestions on what to do with em? I'm going to be making zucchini bread sometime for sure.

I didn't get to put another hot wire around the garden because i need more plastic posts. But i did pull a lot of weeds and feed them to the animals.
Mostly i worked on the chicken coop in between periods of trying to cool off. When will this blasted humidity go away?
Tomorrow i hope to install the back door i built today. And the other vent up high in the wall. Just started the divider, but the flooring is done. I hope i can get this coop built asap because the guineas really need more space.
Be careful viewing the eclipse folks. Your eyesight is priceless. Watch it on TV.

That's what I'm going to do. Probably on iPad though.
The only time I was in Virginia everthing was so green I thought gosh it must rain here all the time. Humidity wasn't so bad if I remember correctly. Guess I was there on a good day.

Thanks! Wife and I are checking it out right now. We have all the ingredients. We've used jewelweed for years to soothe PI, and we have a lot of sage in the garden. The yard is pretty much all plantain so I'll just let it grow out a few days.
