What did you do in the garden today?

We have bedstraw that kind of clings like velcro . Might be the same weed just different names .

I have some of that stuff in my garden too. I love to give my partner a hug before he goes to work, leaving a big piece of that stuff on his back muhahaha

For the rest I have removed a lot of hedge bindweed, again. My garden is full of it and it murders my plants. :'(
I planted some herbs again. And black bellpeppers I don't need, but couldn't leave in the store since I have never seen black bellpeppers.
And I picked the first vegetable in the garden this year! I wanted to let it grow even bigger, but someone stepped on it..

Ouch--that sounds painful! Hope it's not broken.

Morning glories are actually the least of my problems around here. I've got Virginia Creeper, which strangles my pine tree, and worst of all, Confederate Jasmine. That stuff, dang. It smells really nice when the little white flowers bloom, but it takes OVER, covering fences, strangling veggies. So hard to keep ahead of it. Irritating as all get out.

Didn't do to much in the garden this weekend. Got to go out on the boat with some friends on Saturday--perfect to go to one of the islands and chill.

I did transplant some of my naranjillas into bigger pots. Man those thorns are vicious and glove-piercing. Also picked enough blackberries for my yogurt and used the first atomic grape tomatoes in the aforementioned blt. They're good, the only problem is that it takes approximately forever for them to develop the red and orange streaks. If I eat them when they're just green and purple they don't have much flavor.

All the herbs are doing great--the stupid bunnies don't touch those. I've got lemon balm, flat-leaf parsley, thyme, dill, fennel, garlic chives, basil and oregano in the raised beds, and mints, pineapple sage, chives, lemon thyme, thai basil, lime basil, tarragon and lemongrass in the driveway. The bunnies (one big, two little) ate my bush beans down to stubs, the little wretches. I keep telling the chickens to sic 'em, but they don't listen. My dog is basically blind, so he wanders right by them. Sigh. :barnie

We have Bind Weed here. It's invasive, with creeping rhizomes that are also a bit brittle, so they break real easily... leaving even a tiny piece behind will allow the stuff to proliferate. My worst invasive is creeping charlie. It's a weed that I hate, and admire at the same time. the leaves are so pretty, and maintain a beautiful carpet of green, no matter what the color. When mowed or bruised, they emit a musky minty scent that I actually enjoy. The chickens eat it, and IMO, it would make a great nest box addition. I've never seen insect damage to it!
