What did you do in the garden today?

Today I will mourn for my snow covered garden.

I doubt much will survive. :(

We moved from Colorado a year and a half ago. I saw all the Facebook posts of friends showing all the snow! Right before we moved, we had a blizzard mid May. The kids had a snow day on the last two days of school. I never could keep a garden going there.

Yum! Those look delicious! My plants just started producing tiny tomatoes so I have a while.

Before you know it you'll have a bunch! I almost feel guilty with all the snow and rain folks are getting.

Ours have started flowering now put their tomato cages on them can hardly wait...
May have shot myself in the foot with out spinach as it appears to have bolted pass saving :th:he

I gave up on spinach due to bolting . Bolting is triggered by day length . We do not usually get enough heat to harvest before bolting . Fall planted spinach is more dependable . I use spinach substitutes . There is orach , beet berry , chard , white goosefoot , malabar and New Zealand spinach . Plus there is a species of dock that is not bitter .

To clone tomatoes, cut a branch off, preferably around 4 inches long or longer, stick it in a pot and some dirt, water it thoroughly, wait about a week or two. I always joke (But am completely serious) that if tomatoes didn't die from cold weather, since they duplicate, sprout, and root so easily, they would be a weed. Everyone would be pulling them out of their yards and trying to keep them under control. You could check the thread I made on it if you want https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...ount-of-tomato-plants-from-one-plant.1311318/

The flood we had this spring dragged my compost bin about 20 ft away before it tipped over. It's an old horse trough with the bottom busted out from the last flood. We moved it back and scooped as much back in as we could, but that dirt patch is now overflowing with wild tomatoes. At least 20 came up and it's only a 4x4ft patch.
