What did you do in the garden today?

Totally understand it...... but look at the positive. :love
Consider it as SHARING.
Those deer do not have one of these,,,

and can not go to the grocery store to get some for their breakfast.
I on the other hand am able to get to the store, and stock up on these year round. (for the most of the year) I like them when they are super abundant and on SALE:thumbsup
My typical breakfast.

So my attitude about garden items, (including flowers) is same as with my chickens, and predators. I try to protect them both BEST that I can:thumbsup
I need to do this to prevent my tree mice :gig(squirrels) from tearing up my flower pot soil plantings.

Yes:barnie I know it looks messy. The maple seeds are coming down as if it is snowing:old When the flowers start growing thru the wire, I remove and replace with the cylindrical cages.

Those cylindrical cages that I make keeps the squirrels out as well as support the flowers as they grow for a nice showing. :)

And just wanted to share some of my repurpose items. The playhouse does not get much use by grandchildren, but it does add to the patio decor.:) Of course I do like to utilize things fully.

Inside we keep their outdoor toys. This way after they finish playing, we do not trip over them.:idunno
Those hanging baskets were such a good deal,,,,,,,,, I had to control my self with the amount I purchased. I think it was 8 or 10 that I purchased. When the of-springs came over last weekend, I told them to help themselves with whatever they desired for their home yard:love

Love that perspective! This is the first year we have grown strawberries, where they actually produced, so it was disappointing to have them all eaten. I need to cover the tub, I guess. The strawberry plants in that tub were brought to me in Colorado from my mom in Missouri, from her garden. Then I brought them to Virginia when we moved here. They flowered in Colorado, but never produced berries. Now they are going crazy! Last year I thinned out the tub and planted the runners, creating the ground patch.

You have far more money than I do.

It's been getting so hot and humid lately, afternoons are definitely indoor time. I've gotten a few things done the past few days, repotted my daughter's lambs ears, built a cage for my zucchini to climb up. Ripped out the swiss chard, it was harboring spider mites, did the weed eating, attempted to dig between two small trees to put some plants in and discovered a layer of gravel that must have been washed there during one of the floods. I'm going to raise up that spot and plant anyway. But! I found my first tomato on the Cherokee Purple and have tons of flowers on the Currant tomato plants, they must have grown 1.5 feet this past week with the hot weather. Made my second batch of apple mint lemonade, yum.

Good afternoon gardeners:frow

@skwarksy ouch! I hope your cheek feels better soon. You really are lucky you didn't break glasses, yikes. Honestly, I've done that myself, had a huge bruise like I was in a fist fight.

@cavemanrich you have a lovely yard there :thumbsup

It rained early, around 2 am, enough that the roof was still dripping and went down the back of my shirt when I went to let the chicks out this morning.

I didn't get anything accomplished outside today, but my dad was happy with his tomato. As soon as I gave it to him he said they had to go home and put it in the fridge so it'll be cold by dinner. He's a goof.

I need to add some potting soil to the oleander out front either tonight or tomorrow morning. I think I need a different pot, that one seems to be losing ground

Good morning gardeners. Didn't get much done in the garden yesterday, I had to deliver some eggs then do some shopping at Trader Joe's. I only go there once or twice a month as it is an 80 mile round trip. But my timing was great. They had pots of mini daffodils on sale for $2.99. I finally get my daffodil fix, Yay! I did finally do a little "pruning" on my fruit trees. They're still small so I just removed the leaves that were growing on the lower trunk. I still need to fertilize and put mulch down around them. We got a little shower overnight that gave the smallest vegetable plants a little boost. Almost every one of the original pole bean seeds I planted are coming up now. Also noticed the peonies in the front yard have buds on them. I'll take a picture of that once they bloom. I'll be heading to Lowes hopefully today to pick up more mulch. It's on sale again, thank goodness. Have a great day in the garden today!

Waiting for heavy fog to burn off. We are forecast to be dry today finally.

After all this wet maybe I can pull weeds in the flower beds.

My plants are almost all still alive after the very wintertime temps we just went through.
