What did you do in the garden today?

Have to ask what is BT might be something out here also I use dawn 1 to 10 with water in a spray bottle

Bt is a bacterium that impacts caterpillars. They munch the leaves with Bt and then it causes them to die. Last year it was the only thing we found effective against the cabbage loopers eating our brussel sprouts. It comes as a concentrate that get diluted to spray on the plants.

Looks like a possible fungus. It does look like something is chewing on them though. Have you tried BT? My broccoli used to get infested every year. We'd get one harvest then BAM! Broccoli eaten by worms. Started BT this year and now no worms! They eat it and they die right away. Its certified organic and safe to use up until 1 week before harvest. I just spritz them every saturday.

I’ll have to inspect more closely tomorrow. We’ve successfully used Bt last year in Brussels sprouts. I don’t see any caterpillars yet, but maybe they are tiny.

The guy at the store tried to talk me out of it and get the pesticide. My argument was that I'm positive the pesticide works better but it is not organic. The whole point of growing our own is that its pesticide free without the price tag

I had a small bag full of leftover beans (slightly sprouted with tails) from planting in my square foot garden. I decided to just scatter them in a 4'X4' raised bed which was empty, covered them with about an inch of new soil, and will just let them grow free will. Will have to compare this "free will" method with my SFG measured spacing.

I have an elevated 2'X4' sub irrigation garden bed out on our deck. I planted 3 different varieties of Swiss Chard, 4 kinds of beans and some green onions. The Swiss Chard is big enough to cut off 6" leaves to throw in my salads. Fresh greens from the deck!
