What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners :)

It's about 0230, I'm up with a headache so I made coffee and sat down for some BYC time. Of course it takes me an hour to reply to anything because puppies must play

There's a short green carpet where I "planted" the carrots, onions and chives. There's also green stuff growing where the broccoli should be so I'm assuming it's broccoli. We have a few tomatoes starting to ripen, turns out the donor is of the cherry variety. Rabbit poop, anyone use it? Great stuff but I'm wondering when and if I'll need more or if I should use something else too. Thoughts?

So sorry to hear that you have headaches bad enough to wake you up!
As far as rabbit poop goes, I use to raise New Zealand White rabbits ( they are a meat rabbit). I had them housed in a 5' x 8' shed and had corrugated roofing under the cages, slanted so the the poop and urine would run down and into the gutters I installed at the back of the cages. The gutters exited the shed straight into the garden!! People said I had the biggest and best tasting tomatoes they had ever had!!
I would still have rabbits now, but the hubby said it's either chickens or rabbits.
So I have chickens and turkeys! I did not use any other type of compost when I had the rabbits.

Skinning and butchering the deer was a big job! I finished around 2 AM. I still have all the "scraps" to grind up to make ground venison. I thought I would tackle that today but it turned out to be a "take your mom on errands day". She had a doctor's appointment at 1:40 and then wanted to go to the bank and Target. We never made it to the bank. It wasn't too bad of a day even though she ran into me on the motorized cart in Target!
Anyway, I ended up being gone for 6 hours! I need to check on the chickens and the start working on the deer meat again. Have a great weekend everyone!

I think maybe got straight run on my speckled sussex but still cute

Good morning gardeners. This morning is a bit nippy. I'm waiting for the temps to warm up a bit before cleaning the chicken coop. It started out at 16F earlier and only up to 24F right now. I feel bad I didn't get any garden chores done yesterday. The weather was warmer, but I had errands to run that couldn't wait. After today the temperatures are forecasted to getting back to what is more normal this time of year. We don't usually get this cold in November. Last year I didn't need to wrap my chicken until the end of November / first of December. Today I have promised myself to dig into my sand bag and put my dahlia tubers away for the winter. I'm making sourdough bread today and I may make up some ginger snap cookies. Oh, and I ordered my BYC calendar. I missed out last year, can't wait to put on my wall. Have a great day everyone and stay warm!

Good evening gardeners. We have rain possible next week so I'm holding off watering except for some fertilizer for an oleander I had to transplant today. I'll be up before the sun getting some things put away in the yard and straightening up the shed so I can weed as soon as the sun comes up. Gotta squeeze in the dog park before we do our grocery shopping and then we're sweeping and mopping, and hopefully cleaning the carpet in the living room. Hubs has been off work a few weeks but goes back after next week. He's going to wash the drapes for me on Monday

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

GARDENING:
It's so dry in the backyard.
Nearly running out of tank water.
Thinking about giving up on the veggie garden.
The air is a smoke haze because the WHOLE country is on fire.
No rain forecast for the rest of the week.
Had no rain for forever.
The sun and the heat burns everything.
Hopeless.

I'm familiar with your trials and tribulations. While we weren't on fire we had the heat, dry winds and no rain. I hope you get some rain soon and the fires are under control.
