What did you do in the garden today?

Rabbits are a problem in my area when it comes to gardening. So are squirrels, but I'd have to cage every plant to keep them away. I would like to keep the rabbits out of the garden though. I have hardware cloth and chicken wire along the on the back and sides of the garden. The front fence of the garden area is the new one though, which is a 3-rail fence with 2'x4' welded wire. Is the 2"x4" welded wire sufficient for rabbits? The gaps are vertical (2" wide and 4" tall) btw. Do I need to run hardware cloth or chicken wire over the welded wire to create smaller gaps?

For rabbits, the 2 inch gap should be good enough. Also, rabbits will not jump high over barrier. I did post some time ago about the Tomcat.
Consider sprinkling that on the borders.

Baby rabbits can squeeze through 1x 2 inch welded wire . 2x2 will allow juvenile rabbits in . Maybe adults . Anything 3 inches or more lets them all in . They can pass through 4x4 on the run .
I guess I may have to run the added layer of wire... darn it. That shouldn't be hard though once the 2x4 wire is in place.
