What did you do in the garden today?

Nothing..

Still digging out

Good morning gardeners. Did someone say "snow?" Yes we got about an inch of wet, sloppy snow. More in the weekend forecast, up to 3 inches. AAAAARRGH! :idunno:he Good grief! Glad I haven't planted all that much yet. I received one of my HD orders yesterday but no sign of the HC. I'm not getting a good feeling about this. All the rush to start raising chickens may have inundated the HC supply chain. My little Lingonberry plants who are eagerly awaiting life in the big garden are biding their time and putting out new growth so they must be happy. I'm concerned with my mini bay laurel plant which seems alive, but hasn't changed at all since it arrived how many weeks ago? I did a lot of heavy lifting yesterday so no plans to do anything too physical today, just rest and watch the snow melt. So on the topic of neighbor dogs, I'm right there @AllenK RGV. I have no patience with negligent dog owners. When I did have dogs they were not allowed to poop in my front yard. Something had to be sacred. So when a "neighbor" would walk their dog ang use my front yard as a potty, I was livid. So, attacking your chickens? Do what ever you need to do. Perhaps trapping the poor dog and calling the local dog pound. Just a thought. Thanks again for the pictures @TropicalBabies. Your little chickies are delightful. Have a great day everyone. Here's what I woke up to:

I'm going to show that photo to my chickens... they have no idea how lucky they are. They have the whole yard and are still squawking up a storm.
I'm sorry, but it is so warm here already, your photo is like A/C <3
Thanks for thinking my chicks are cute lol. I thought they had faces only a mother could love. Stormy's mama took a long time to pretty up but all are so full of personality. I just realized all my little wild children have names of strippers... Rosie, Jazzie, Dusty and Stormy... ooops.
You are going to be so raring to go by the time your delivery gets there ;) may be a blessing in disguise.

My back hurts!

Today DW and I top dressed her cantelope bed,and potatoes then we got the watering done, she mucked out the Sumatra coop because.... I needed to modify it while she enjoyed a nice nap after smoothie o'clock(pineapple/watermelon/lime/mango) and lunch. Then I got like a lot of tools out of the shed and made my coop modifications. I had fun not sweating buckets working inside the coop and threw it together with wood scraps and 7ft of the 1x4 welded wire roll I still have in the shed. The thing is suprisingly sturdy for such a frankenstine build. The wooden portion even supports me full weight if I choose to pull Sumatra hens off the roost at night.

While she was mucking I did create an art installation for her gloves as they needed to air out!

Well, I Googled how to cook the morels and... Well, let's just say I'll be looking for another recipe!! 😂 :lau

They turned out to be burned little chunks of not tasty things. We were going for sauteing them in butter. It said to saute for 5 minutes so the morels can release their juice/liquid and then to saute for another 10 minutes. Keep the temperature up so that they sizzle. Well, they sizzled alright!!
I've never eaten a morel before but I'm willing to try again.

Forgot to add that I uncovered the garden after last night's freeze. All the tomato plants are gone and even a pepper plant had some damage and that was under a black plastic flower pot! The other green pepper plants seem to be okay. We are predicted to have a low of 30 on Friday night. After that the lows are supposed to be in the upper 40's and lower 50's.

Next time dip them in egg and then in fine cracker crumbs ( saltine ) . Pan fry in real butter until golden brown .
