What did you do in the garden today?

he came with an incredibly riacially biased name of rambo we are just calling him "bo" he washes my hands every FEW MINUTES< AND HE has totally checked me over for cavities too< CORONA VIRUS MEET BO HE HAS REAL ENERGY you slacker

I love the name Bo. My favorite dog who is buried under a flower bed in our yard now was named Beau (some pronunciation just a different spelling).

@BReeder! If you don't mind, please keep us posted on those peppers. I collect a lot of seeds and I'm always looking for hearty breeds. Planted some today, in fact.

P.S. I don't know if your little one is into peppers yet, but my Ayla has loved the mini-sweets since his age. This is my first year in trying to sow since we have our own property. We shall see...

I will keep you posted. I'm hoping they pull through this week. Mother nature decided to throw a curve ball at us with one final frost coming on Friday night. I'm not really equipped to cover the plants. The raised beds are very warm, so I'm hoping the soil temps keep the plants from getting damaged. I could mulch around them a bit with wood chips (I ordered 10 yds so I could spare a little on the pepper bed). I might end up rigging a mini hot house though with some clear plastic and rebar or something as arched supports.

I planted my dill in the herb bed with sage, lavender, thyme and oregano @Sueby. Apparently that's not a good place for the dill to be because apparently dill doesn't like other herbs. I'm going to try a couple of large pots of it. Hopefully that will give me enough to dry. I put one of my rosemary plants in the new big garden bed with the potatoes. Apparently that's not a good idea either. I'm still really new to growing herbs and learning along the way. BTW: I did hear about those killer hornets @igorsMistress. Very scary. I always worry when I hear about any threats to our pollinators because we can't live without them.

I'm thinking of getting bees. I'm looking into it

I'm not at my house today so I'm helping my dad with his garden and yard. This morning we seeded his lawn and covered it with hay.

I'll be checking my garden tonight. It's going to rain for the next two days so I don't have to water. Mother nature always cares for my garden.

Went to a new-to-me garden center today. It’s pretty huge! This past weekend they had a big spring flower/veg sale event so I decided to just go today, even though things would be picked over....bc I didn’t know what I’d be missing since it would be my first visit. Got 2 large hanging baskets and two bell pepper plants and one tomato plant, and some marigolds for here and there. They only take cash, so luckily my order was less than I brought with me!

the baskets have vining black eyed Susan, so it should shape up to being very nice.

It's definitely not comfortable outside this time of year. We keep ceiling fans on in every room 24/7. We have about 3 or 4 tough months but the rest of the year is pretty nice.

That's my plan too if we get a frost. I always plant a little early because of my allergies, but I figure in raised beds they are already a little warmer, then I'll just pile on more straw & throw a blanket over them if I have to. But the full moon is tomorrow I think, so hoping I'll be ok. Good luck!

OOPS!

planted melon seeds in the little jiffy greenhouse type container (sold to use with pods). I had used the 3-cell starters with soil bc they fit in there. Left them in the sun a wee bit too long bc the soil temp was around 120F!!!

totally my fault. So I moved them to the shade and re-planted the seeds. hoping for success, and as long as I dont steam bake them again, hopefully they’ll sprout soon.
