What did you do in the garden today?

Another over 90 day. The humidity is making my eyelids sweat.
Crazy stormy later with hours of winds over 65mph.
Putting up our water.
Stacking the patio furniture.
Putting up the hail shutters on the coop.
I tied up the taller tomato plants last night.
I might toss 5 gallon buckets over the delicate squash plants, with a rock on top of course. LOL.

I hope you get through the storms and crazy winds with no significant damage! We are supposed to be getting rain most of the day. Since it’s coming from Christabol I thought it would be major heavy rain but so far it is just a light gentle rain.
Also my sunflowers are starting to think about getting ready to flower!

Beautiful morning glory, @Sueby! Had a "Picotee" last year and it was so pretty.

Can anyone help me with these bush beans? I can't find any critters or real evidence thereof besides the holes and general sad state.

Whatever varmint is making it over the fence half-dug one up. It'll probably die now, but I re-planted it anyhow. Can't hurt to try. Still rather upsetting. Despite the HC it left holes everywhere... Cuke and pole bean seeds probably disturbed or gone, too. Now I look like a lazy gardener because this critter just destroys everything I do!

I wish I knew cuz a few of mine look exactly like that!

Good morning gardeners. Still plugging away at the baby coop. Did I mention how much I hate little fence staples. I nailed down the bottom of the HC yesterday and that's a big pain in my back. The top row will be easier. Just when I thought my allergies were waning, the pine trees started filling the air with green powdery pollen. This morning I partitioned off the potato plants and covered their bases with chopped straw. I'll add some dirt on top of that. I did a very little bit of pulling grass away from my radishes. That's likely all the garden work for the day. I took some pictures. The potatoes and my herb garden with overgrown parsley, and this dove that spent about 20 minutes bathing and grooming at the bird bath yesterday evening. I am very happy to see little flower buds developing on my lavender plants. Great pictures @igorsMistress. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on your success with the bees @karenerwin. I hope the thunderstorms that rolled through Massachusetts didn't "dampen" your weekend @Sueby. Back to work in a few minutes. I saw lavender buds this am too! Yay! The storms weren't too bad, it brought in some nice cool weather so I was ok with it. Love the gnome, lol.

Picked weeds outside with the beagle. Grass won’t grow in our yard but it’ll grow in my above ground gardens We have tons of cucumbers and tomatoes.

Galadriel the chicken. She has earned "live with us till dead" status. She is calmer and tolerates attention better than our cat.

DP and I have an agreement that each of us can pick one hen each that gets a free pass. And Galadriel is lovely. And how funny that she was less concerned with being alone than the chance to scarf clover!

My bee mentor came over this evening (Monday) and we opened the hive together. She was impressed at how mellow the bees are and with how vigorous they are too!

Grats on your success with the bees! And do post picks again once those sunflowers bloom! Your bees should love them! Our jerusalem artichokes should bloom soon too, I'll post pics once they do, they look just like sunflowers.

I grow morning glory on my dog pen fence & was bummed when NONE came back this year! I didn't collect & dry any pods last year because it always just seeds itself - well I guess not always!

I love morning glories, we planted a bunch of mixed kinds along the side back fence. And yeah, I thought they'd always reseed themselves'

@Sueby snails with teeth and that bleed acid? I sure hope not!

Hehe, we get some pretty impressive snails here but none of those so far.
@NightingaleJen, good luck with your bush beans, I don't seem to have much luck with them myself. I might try pole beans next time.

That's another thing you can't have too many of! I'm going to have to make a list.

Good day gardeners, we got about 3 inches of rain in the last few days and it's overcast now. Got the potted plants fertilized yesterday and finally planted that poor tray of pop corn plants. The roots had all grown together in the tray (blush). The stones I got out of the plot were amazing. I tied a lettuce in the coop some time back and no one was interested but the kale is a complete success. I pulled up the spinach since it never really grew and then all of it started to bolt. The rabbits and chickens were all cool with that and happy to do their parts. Looks like some of my tomatoes have that danged viral wilt. I should probably rip them out but it's so hard to do it. At the least, I'll note the varieties and avoid them in the future.

And I've discovered something about cooking beets, they taste better after a night in the fridge. I didn't really care for them at all before I started growing them myself, that "earthy" flavor turned me off. So the first time I cooked them I used a fancy complicated recipe. It was good but took a lot of work, so this time I just cubed them, roasted them then finished them in balsamic vinegar, sugar, and orange juice. But I'd cooked so much food that day we didn't eat any, so in the fridge they went. We had them last night and they were great!

Cupcake the rabbit is likely to have her babies today or tonight, she's big as a house so hopefully a big litter. Gave her some bunny candy (fresh clover) and we'll see.
