What did you do in the garden today?

OMG @igorsMistress, your new icon is so cute! And my chili turned out great, best batch ever!
Awe thank you NewBoots! I was being mugged by a duck :gig They always try to steal my wedding ring.
Glad your chili came out, will you have to hit it with more heat like you thought?

Good morning all. It was actually in the double digits this morning a balmy 18F. After -2F yesterday and taking several hours to get into the double digits, 18F seems warm. It hasn't been near 32F for over a week here, however this Nor'easter is bringing temps up to 30F later today along with high winds and 14 or more inches of snow. I'm glad your chili came out yummy @NewBoots. I don't have a problem with the heat going away when refrigerating it since I switched to using ancho chilies and cut out the tomato sauce. I do add some jalapeno peppers, but not much as the ancho chilies gives it a warm, spicy flavor. I had to go to HD yesterday to do an online purchase return. While there I noticed a display of grow lights for fairly reasonable prices. I was tempted, but walked away. The lamp I bought a short while ago for the sunroom should be sufficient for the seedlings. Today is cleaning day. My kitchen is still a bit chaotic with waiting for the remodeling to get moving again. I'm hoping after the weather clears on Wednesday my contractor can install the exhaust fan. I have one more wall in the LR to tear the wallpaper down and then I can get on with the painting. I can't wait. But I must do some cleaning inside and the coops need cleaning as well. Tomorrow looks like a heavy shoveling day. I'm so glad I got the snowblower tuned up.

Having worked in shipping for many years, I have a pretty good idea when someone is making out on postage. "$10 flat fee for shipping! Wheee! Isn't that reasonable??" Ummm... well, you're taking 40% of that, at least...

Remember when gas was north of $4 a gallon? UPS charges went through the roof! And then when gas came back down, the fees... didn't.

I'll find out today when I have some for lunch. Several of my ladies seem to know when I'm trying to take a nice picture of them and immediately stick their beaks right up to the phone. :)

I used a 7 oz can of jalapenos and the same of anchos in adobo sauce, and you're right, the anchos have such a warm and spicy flavor. I used to just add a little but now it's the whole can with the adobo sauce.

Heavy rain again today, so the quick dash out to feed and water critters will be about all outside today.
