What did you do in the garden today?

Prep for snow. Looks like wide variation in estimates. 5"? or 13"? Guess we find out tomorrow. Spouse has to go in to work all week, so it will potentially be a tiring week with all the potential snow at different times this week.

Here we are using pick ax to remove a lot of ice from around entrance to run. We could only open the gate about a foot. It took a bit, but now we can open it about 3 feet! Such a good thing that the coop is elevated, and we put about 15' of roof over the entrance door and deck and further to that side, so the girls have lots of space still, even though snow enters the run.

Am scheduled to pick up chicks and poults 1.5 hours away on Wednesday (or option to pick up on Thursday. But, snowstorm tonight and tomorrow gives us a lot of snow, followed by another storm Wed night. So, I spent today gathering supplies to house the chicks/poults inside for a week. Need to set everything up.

Went to 4 stores before finding ice melt at the 5th store. Have shovels, which I'll be using a lot this coming week.

Inventoried seeds, and apparently, I am out of one of our favorites....so, now I'm going to place an order for them - here's to hoping they are still in stock!

Enjoy the snow everyone! Looks like a whole lot of us in the US get to enjoy this storm...all the way to southern TX!

I cant tell if its definitely headed our way or not. I keep seeing conflicting info. But I do know one thing, if I look out the window tomorrow and the steps are white, it snowed. If I cant open the run, it snowed a lot 🤣🤣

I just saw strawberry seeds. I normally get the bareroot plants at a local greenhouse. Have you had success with the seeds?

I bought a variety pack of alpine strawberry seeds. I've had them in the freezer for about 8 months. Hoping they are still viable. I am going to plant them this spring. Fingers crossed.... It will be my first time planting strawberries from seed....
