What did you do in the garden today?

Well this is weird... My two most recent posts are just gone. Totally gone. Poof!

My order hasn't arrived yet. It stated delayed yesterday, and super late last night the tracking info said it was in Fort Worth. That's a long way from here still. Wouldn't surprise me if it's not here until tomorrow.
I noticed something wonky about the website several days ago, and then again yesterday. I suspect it might be some bored kids or a disgruntled former member of BYC. You just never know.

This is my first fall without RSL pullets, I'm not used to getting only 2 eggs a day! I should have started hoarding them earlier. :gig Now I know what it's like to have regular birds, not egg laying machines. My RSLs never really molted, they'd lose a couple feathers here & there, but the others...feathers everywhere & no eggs! It's been eye opening just how much the reds are bred for massive production & it's sad. Won't own them again.

I *want* to tear out the garden but I pulled an entire basket of veggies from it yesterday! It's 75, no cold in sight so I'll wait. I'm gonna turn around to snow one of these days. :wee:lau
If you lived close I'd tell you come pick up 2 or 3 dozen eggs from me. We get more than we eat. Neighbors and my sister get free eggs all the time from us, especially in Spring and Summer.

This morning, I checked on the big bellied praying mantis I placed in my raised bed yesterday. I hoped she would put her egg case somewhere in the area. This morning, she hadn’t moved more than a few inches. With freezing temps and rain coming this weekend, I don’t know that she’ll live long enough to lay her eggs.

OTOH, with those cold temps, the tomatoes are done. They don’t know it yet, but they are coming inside to finish ripening.
