What did you do in the garden today?

Not much going on here. It was super warm out today, I even saw bugs flying around!

I give my home made jam to all friends/family/neighbors/coworkers every Christmas & everyone seems to enjoy it - no ones been ungrateful, lol. Even the young(ish) nieces & nephews, but they have gardens & do a little canning so they actually appreciate it. Everyone loves when I bring in veggies or eggs or pickled anything. My niece makes us all candles for Christmas too. I don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate home made anything. :idunno

Certain in-laws of mine aren't big on the homemade stuff. Got some snooty ones in the family. Others adore homemade stuff.

Cool here, we did not get above 60. Weather Channel just threw a freeze warning at us for tonight. Blegh. Definitely have to cover everything tonight. I don't have stakes or hoops, have to use sticks, lol. Well, the experiment is about to happen for real now. Y'all wish me luck.

I usually make nut butters for Christmas presents. This year, if I can learn how, I might make homemade sourdough bread.

My Great Aunt Lou made a case of quarts of canned pears and peaches, and a case of pints of sweet pickles for about 10 different people. All home grown and canned.

:eek::bow RIP, Aunt Lou.
Sourdough bread is pretty simple does not brown like yeast bread in the same time

Good luck @Elyrian1!

We lost power last night with a bit of rain/wind that came through with the cold front. I noticed that some of my strawberries are finally starting to fade back - thankfully! Few more cold nights & I should be able to cover them. We need to do a last sweep of the leaves too - then everything should be done. Asked DH to add starting the snow blower to his list to make sure it's running.

Have a good one!

We talked and mulched a bobcat of leaves yesterday and then dumped them on the garden. Need to do more today.

I also need to remove the marigold plants and pull what seeds I can. Can I store them in the fridge? Since they don't overwinter naturally, I'm wondering if keeping them cold is OK.

Today is cloudy but in the upper 50s. The warmest day this week, so I'm going to get outside.
OMG, what was my phone thinking. This is such a weird message thanks to autocorrect and swipe text.

We raked* and mulched a bunch* of leaves.

We didn't just talk about it and we certainly didn't have a bobcat. LOL
