What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I don’t have the patience or skill to decorate cakes :bow

The rotten ducks have killed one of the lantana so I’m replacing it with rosemary and have another one to put in another spot that I think needs something. It’s duck and chicken proof and take the heat and sun here. This one is several years old and gets full sun

I’m in the process of digging out a Mexican bird of paradise to transplant to the new duck pool area. They don’t eat a lot of it, they prefer the yellow one, and it grows large and bushy so provides good cover. I’ve decided to add a dwarf olive as the second tree like shrub in that area, I read that they grow well under similar conditions that Arabian lilac needs, but it’s not a speedy grower.

I think that's the one I have & if I bump it too hard, it tips over. :gig We are NOT very gentile around here. LOL

This is it, from Amazon:

Well, it seems you have already replaced your skelter with that nice egg rack. I was going to suggest that you might make a wooden base and staple/screw/fasten the skelter to a wider wooden base to make it more stable.

I have been thinking about buying eggs too.. 10 quail and I'm getting only 3-4 eggs a day (about 1 chicken egg) which means I have to ration them. But the chicks are nearly at point of lay. By xmas I should be drowning in eggs.

I left a couple gopher traps in a tunnel and of course gopher makes a brand new tunnel through the middle and fills it, not bothering to touch either trap.. sigh. Round 2 tonight.

Mac nut husks are starting to crack. Last season the nuts didn't fall till January, maybe they'll be earlier this year. It's been warm most of the month.

I thought about it, but I'm extremely limited on kitchen counter space, I have a tiny kitchen, & that thing just wasn't very space efficient with the round design so I decided on the other rack. I can put them elsewhere if needed or push them far back against the back wall. I'll admit, I think I'll enjoy the rustic look too. 🙂

I think I need more chickens.
Of course you do! ;) We all need more chickens!

I might just have to do that. :thumbsup I haven't knocked mine over -- yet.

All this talk of PEX . If you DIY the compression or band type fittings are easy to find . Expansion type are harder to find . No hardware - lumber yard carries expansion type . Menards and home Depot do . The tool is very expensive . I paid $500 for mine . Special order . Very easy to use . I fired a guy using it on my cabin . So I bought the expansion tool to finish the job myself .
