What did you do in the garden today?

Adding soil and pest moss to newly cleared area for partial shade garden. I dont know what to edge it with or even if I have too? I want to make my yard eventually into a food forest so I want it as natural as possible and nothing that is too heavy or has to be moved to work in the garden. Anyone got any good edible plant I could use as a border plant for zone 4?
Wintergreen comes to mind. Not the easiest plant to find for sale, but we had some planted in a previous home in a shady/ dappled sun spot and it was very happy. Pretty mounding plant as I recall.

Tornados came through last night... This is a picture of it forming just to the west of our house. Luckily no damage...

DH was discharged from the hospital today. He's being rather salty but thankfully he's getting better...
Picked up some of these items from TSC today. Thought they were adorable... 😂

Comfrey, borage, marigolds, all your herbs, etc.

Do you want a perennial?

A great annual would be nasturtiums. I had a bunch crawl all over the corners of my garden last year. Sometimes it will reseed for the following year, but most likely would need to be replanted. Easy to grow, and the flowers and leaves taste great in a salad or as a garnish!

Could you use one of the creeping thymes?

Scary funnel cloud. ☹️
He's probably dead tired, you never get real rest in the hospital with them pestering you every couple hours all night. When my son got out of the hospital years ago, I stayed with him almost non-stop; when we got home all we wanted to do for days was sleep.

@TJAnonymous Nice supercell you had there. :th
There were actually several of them that came through. The local news crew were covering all the warnings and flash flooding reports. Normally a tornado warning cone is a red polygon. When the supercells came through they used a white polygon and called it a "tornado emergency." NONE of the people in the local media had ever seen that used before. I haven't either. I don't know if that meant it was an F5 tornado or just a supercell tornado. Surprisingly it left little damage and no injuries which is good.

We are expecting more tonight and they are likely to be worse. The temps are up around 80 degrees and a strong cold front is going to smack right into this warm front. Tonight is the night everyone was worried about from a severe weather perspective.

Stay safe…what kind of precautions do you have to take with your chickens? So scary….
