My old brain isn't what it used to be so while I get those - I should have known better - incidents, I am so happy I managed to "fix" the problem, I still get a rush.* Yes I love a happy ending too, but don't feel like a genius, in this case, it's more a beat myself up. Ive been an engineer for 40 plus years, and when something 'simple' after the root cause failure analysis of it slaps you in the face gets you, it's like, well ok dumbass, YOU should have figured that one out half a day ago. Maybe with 45 years of experience, I won't let this ever get me again![]()

@WthrLady beat me to it, but sweet peas are toxic to chickens and rabbits. It makes no sense to me, regular pea vines are loved by our rabbits and the young growing tips are said to be very tasty in stir fry.Can I plant these around the chicken run or are they poisonous to chickens?
Sweet Peas
One of our layers, Inky, nearly died as a chick to overheating (I will never use heat lamps again). As a hen, she was nearly carried off by a hawk. She's alive and well and the prettiest coal black Australorp and lays lovely pinkish eggs.I seem to have the same luck... I've saved a handful of chicks from certain death and nearly ALL of them ended up being roosters.
Speaking of the little ankle-pecker....she (cause I'm optimistic like you....) is trying to help me type out this message....lol
More storms expected but it's been nice this morning. It makes for a much more pleasant critter care and dog walk.
