What did you do in the garden today?

It’s pretty windy and my chauffeur duties are only a few hours apart today, so I planted parsnip seeds at the end of the onion bed. I also duh up two (yes, only 2) Dock weeds. Then I called it quits.

Well, I do have some minor scratches on my arm and was luckily wearing jeans…the crazy cat decided to leap up at a fly and land on me, mid air with claws out, while I was sitting in the shade. This is the same cat that plays chase and fetch and will walk around with his “prey” in his mouth-a dried up long stalk of something, like a dog. Then he sat down and had a large wood chip in his paws and was chewing on it like a dog would chew on something.

Morning Gardeners. We all have post office boxes here in town. My late use of the greenhouse tray many things have sprouted.. I am thrilled going to plant their pods in dirt today .. Not outside but maybe inside a month they can go in the garden.

Forecast was wrong...again! We did end up getting rain...even a t-storm!
Hopefully yall will too @TJAnonymous
I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I heard it raining. Must have been my sleep-fogged mind because it was dry outside this morning. Forecast calls for clear skies and mid-80s so I went ahead and watered this morning. Supposed to rain tomorrow though. 🤞

I hope to get the new raised beds done today! I also bought a new hibiscus since I killed the previous one by leaving it outside all winter. I was hoping it would survive but nope...lesson learned. I also bought some pretty purple columbine. I've been trying to grow it from seed and haven't been successful.

Pulled my sorry @SS together and weeded the garden, planted the 6 sweet potatoes, pulled weeds in the hoophouse, and scooped henhouse poops. That on top of the mowing has me done in for the day. All I want is warm chocolate chip cookies and to be left alone.
I'm really starting to think chronic pain is messing with my head. LOL I feel like I should have a seat at the Mad Hatter's table. BWahahahahaaaa
Spring term will be over soon and dh will be home more. He had three committees and 4 classes to teach. That's an insane load. So that should help with the endless work around here. It's been just me for ages, since 2018ish, summers included.
Another 1-1.5 inches of rain again tomorrow. I'll take it.

I planted 80 more onion sets today, 40 each of Red Baron and Stuttgarter. I also planted some beets, broccoli, and broccolini to go with them.

I'm not a fan of beets. I love the color, but they taste like dirt. I read that Detroit Red beets have the least of the whatever it is that makes them taste like dirt, so I'm going to give them the ol' college try. If nothing else, I'll use the greens in frittatas.

I filled a bunch more pots with potting soil and planted some basil, butternut squash, and marigolds. I'm trying 4 different basils, just to try them; we use a lot in home made spaghetti sauce. I've never tried pesto... hmmmmm.

We got about 1.5" of rain last night. It sure was pouring about 11:30.

I planted 80 more onion sets today
Stupid question...I've never planted these before but did this time and they are already a foot tall! But does it produce one onion per plant? Or more per plant? Above ground or below ground...like I said stupid question.
