We use these big plastic things in metal cages. Don't remember what they're called...but they're cheap, durable and hold a lot. Course, then we went and built brick enclosures to hide the ugly things so you can't see them from the house, so not sure we actually saved any money...and we had to leave one side open for maintenance or replacement if it's ever needed...so you still see them depending on where you are in the yard.Cool. I’m going to use trash cans, can’t see spending all that money on a special barrel for water that comes off my roof lol.
Have you considered using a stock pond? Remove the plug at the base and add a pipe on the opposite side, fill it half way with wood and top with soil. Makes a nice raised bed with a water reservoir so watering can be done closer to weekly. This one's been neglected for a while and needs stripped and topped off before replanting...but it grows all the water loving plants with less care. Just stick a hose in the lil black pipe once a week until water starts to come out the drain hole on the side.Gottaget a way to keep from having to water so much.
Love cold cucumber soup!I heard, but haven't tried it yet, that there is a cold cucumber soup that is good. Maybe that might be something to try?! Lots of minty cucumber water.
Barely surviving this cold.
Those are IBC totes. They used to be cheap...and plentiful...but have become in short supply and correspondingly more expensive (when you can even find food grade new ones, or used ones that contained non-toxic substances and have been properly cleaned) ever since Covid hit. They've become enormously popular for bulk water storage. We use these big plastic things in metal cages. Don't remember what they're called...but they're cheap, durable and hold a lot.
Oh thanks, it looks exactly the same, I am going to cut it since its toxic to birds and chickens. Its a good thing I only ate a leaf, it was bitter.Crotalaria pallida
U tell me more bout the bottles?Watered the garden this morning... Took well over an hour! Definitely looking forward to installing a drip system this fall so I don't have to spend so much time next year. The only thing I should have to hand water will be the raised beds, which is still a lot but I don't mind those as much because I have buried bottles which make it easier...
I'm making a bunch of egg bites in the Instant Pot this morning with tomatoes, broccoli, onions, cheese, and sausage. Eggs, onion, and broccoli are my own farm/garden raised. Looking forward to fresh tomatoes but they aren't ready yet. Another week, I think, at the earliest.
I heard on Hort tube they would die out with this mich heat if they are in containers. Mine aren't looking so hot either...no pun intendedOh, forgot to mention, the foliage on my potatoes are starting to die out already... I planted in early April so it's been 75-ish days. Anyone else harvesting already? I feel like it's early yet....
The description on the Dyna mosquito Trap says it also traps biting flies........This statement may be true since I don't feel any biting me when I go outside.biting flies are relentless.
I keep meaning to ask if they work for regular flies...thoughts?The description on the Dyna mosquito Trap says it also traps biting flies........This statement may be true since I don't feel any biting me when I go outside.

They don't work for regular flies...................I've been buying those quart fly traps from Lowes; however, they smell like vomit, so its a problem if your neighbor's house is down wind from it.I keep meaning to ask if they work for regular flies...thoughts?
Yea that's what I use & they stink! Was hoping for something better. They don't work for regular flies...................I've been buying those quart fly traps from Lowes; however, they smell like vomit, so its a problem if your neighbor's house is down wind from it.
The design on the quart water fly trap is good, but they need a better bait.
