What did you do in the garden today?

The sitting on the counter is probably what did it. If the varieties were not one of the super sugar enhanced ones you have less then a day at room temp or a few in the fridge before it starts turning starchy.

I like to cook mine in the husks, whether soaked and grilled or microwaved real quick. It makes it easier to peel and I think dosent wash the flavor out like boiling can.
Yeah. My policy has always been to have a pot of boiling water ready, pick the ears and RUN to the kitchen with them. OK, that might be a wee bit of an exaggeration...but not by much.

I did it!
I pulled weeds, took care of the ant problem and I even re-mulched my garden. So today was a productive day.

PHEW. I was going to suggest that if he was underground, and he borrowed it, that he just keep digging, because,....ya....wow. LOL.
Ha! ANYTHING I can't find gets blamed on him. & he knows it & is ok with it because it usually is him. :lau & we did have the conversation about him testing the water & me having a PH tester so I'm not 100% crazy - it just never happened. Poor guy. 🥰

My 5 gal bucket of cucumbers is overflowing after todays harvest
We did 10 pints of pickles and banana peppers already and now canning the squash
I’m going to give a few cucumbers to all of the critters and then make a fresh cucumber salad batch for us and kiddos to snack on

This is my opinion, but dehydrated zucchini doesn't sound good as a chip. I think raw zucchini is nasty, it needs to be cooked with seasoning and oil. Good idea for me if I want to store it long term to use it in cooking when fresh is not available. Soup, stews. Add to meatloaf to sneak in a veg.

Can you feed the chips to the chickens as a treat?
I think im going to do this. Shred and dehydrate zucchini for winter use. Adding it to meatloaf sounds really good right now. And if I can do a zucchini muffin in dec everyone will be happy.

All I did in the garden today is get a couple of Japanese Beetles off my asparagus on my JB hunting trip. The morning was taken up with errands, and was very productive, but by the time I got home, it was hot and sticky. I'll be out weeding tomorrow.

Yesterday, I knocked over an onion, so I pulled it and brought it home. I also dug up one of the garlic plants. I'll break open the head and see how far along it is. If it's ready, then they all probably are, as they have leaves turning brown. It sure would be nice to have fresh garlic again. Last year's is shriveled and sprouting. Still good flavor, but I only use it in spaghetti sauce right now, as I make that in the blender. The cloves are almost too rubbery to mince well.

Ha, found it. He never borrowed it, it was in my canning cabinet. :lau Lost in the kitchen remodel shuffle.
Hehe, this is me and DP. And so much of the time I'll be muttering curses on her head and then find the thing I'm looking for right where I last used it.
I did it!

Looks great, good job!

The garden is now at the stage I don't feel pressure to do so much, now I'll mostly need to water (depending on the amount of rain), weed, pick produce, and can as necessary. Well and fertilize...thin the tomatoes...keep the lawn mowed...tie up the yarrow...clean the greenhouse for the season...Okay lots to still do but the urgency level is much lower. I might even slip in a few days of fishing. And I'll need to start planning the new beds in time for fall onions and garlic. I just love our garden!
