What did you do in the garden today?

Rain is by and large missing us today. It's splitting up just to the west of us and going north and south. I don't think we'll even get a tenth of an inch today... I'm probably just being greedy now 😂 but I really wanted decent rain today. The ground has literally soaked up every single drop. I can't remember any time in the 2.5 yrs we've lived here that it's ever rained even half this much and we didn't have a river through the garden from the storm drain culvert runoff. Not this time... We've had 5 inches of rain and nothing is coming from the storm drain culvert because the ground is literally soaking it all up like a sponge.

Right now they are predicting more rain next weekend. I really REALLY hope they are right... 🙏🤞

Ditto...ground is like a massive sponge! No puddles anywhere and we've had several inches over last few days.
Looks like it is going above us today and hitting poor Kentucky hard!

Good afternoon gardeners. I noticed something had been munching on my okra leaves this morning. I suspected a raccoon or some chipmunks. However, just a little while ago I looked out the window and saw a pair of furry legs underneath one of the okra plants. It was a young groundhog. Really cute little guy. I scolded him out of the garden. I’ll put down onions around the plants in a while. Other than watering a few plants in the front yard and picking another okra pod, that’s all of my garden adventures for the day.

YES! When I checked the garden today, I found two zucchinis and at least two cucumbers coming! I thought I wouldn't be getting any fruit from them this year, or at least that I would have to buy a fertilizer such as a liquid tomato feed or something (which organic ones are so hard to find and a tiny bit expensive), but they're producing fruit on their own! I've posted some pictures below.

I've also got a whole bunch of tomatoes. I unfortunately planted the plants a little too close together. At least the fruits still taste good!

Also harvested my first good-sized carrot of the year!

I am thinking about starting a separate thread called something like "Show Me Your Pallet Project Builds". I'm sure lots of gardeners on the BYC forum have made pallet projects for their gardens. I know I have. I have a few pictures to share, but more pallet projects coming in the future. Might be good to see other pallet projects that people have found to be useful. I'd be interested in any pallet projects and not only garden related.
I bet a lot of people would love a thread like that...I know I'd sure enjoy it!
I’ve been off the internet a while. Nothing much happening in the garden. I did see a cartoon I wanted to share. I don’t know what the PC police are allowing, but I think you guys will enjoy it, so here goes.

Now I know why hubby likes weeding 🤣
Man I'm so sorry! That's gotta be frustrating
I hadn't even got the raised bed built much less ready to plant my seeds that just came. Guess I'll just plant the small ones.
I'm really tempted to pull out the free cantaloupe or watermelon that decided to grow and take over my compost area. It has climbed the chicken run and going up the inside of their ceiling now! Completely insane. I wanted shade for em...sunflowers not cantaloupe/watermelon! Guess they don't care though lol!View attachment 3206430

DO IT please!!! This would be awesome!!!
Looks beautiful ❤️
Hand watered this morning.

Now I'm drooling 🤣 I love tomato sandwiches...just a thick slab of fresh from the garden tomato between two slices of bread, with a little mayo, salt and pepper. Yum! Beautiful fruit you got there ❤️
