What did you do in the garden today?

We have turned one end of the chicken run into a goat pen. We will get 2 Nigerian Dwarf girls soon. We won’t mate them until next winter bc they are only about 7 months old right now. Two doors installed bc when they have babies, they will need their own pen each. We will put up clear panels to block the upper wire walls from weather. The lower boards all around are shiplapped to minimize air intrusion.

Teen is excited for goats -only been wanting them for about 3 years.

Looking good! I hope you share pics of the goats, they’re so cute. My son has three boys and they’re a lot of fun.

I went to the town hall to see what's going on and found out that the girl from the civil engineer's office has been lying for 2 months! she applied for 1 paper on nov 4th and for the other paper she has never applied


and I have been packing my things and preparing to move...

NEVER underestimate a goats ability to dig, climb, chew, push, knock, butt, and break something just to see what is on the other side

not sure how big those goats are but don't be surprised if they don't start trying to work their way out somehow. Good luck with them though !

I think it depends on the goats. Climbing is a guarantee, but my sons goats don’t get out. The pigs are a different story.

Feeling cold here,with windchill feel like it is 17F. Gonna leave the carrots for a few days, hope they sweeten a bit and then pull.

I am ordering trees for next spring, some sort of fruit. Anyone have any suggestions for a pear type for zone 4b?

With a Cockatoo loose in the house? Giving attention to a DIFFFERENT bird? Oh that is a death sentence right there !!

I wish my chickens would sit in my lap but sadly they are a bit more on the hyper end and are not lap birds.

Yes, I see what you mean lol.
My chickens aren’t either and I’m ok with that to be honest. I had one hen that would end up on my shoulder if I even bent over to pick up something in the yard. It got annoying at times.

My barred rock was exactly the same way. baby girl would immediately climb on you, but big red said / did something in their chicken language and now that bird won't even come near me if BR is anywhere within site or quick hop and peck range... but YES very annoying at times, especially when they been scratching around in $#% and then want to dig those sharp claws into YOU to hold on with, also with god only knows what between their toes.

Good morning all. It’s sunny and cool, we’ll be a balmy 70 degrees today. I needed some saucers for a few indoor plants and a new splitter for the hose bib so went to Lowes this morning. I checked out the clearance rack and found a couple of things I’d like in the front yard. Also picked a six pack each of creeping thyme and creeping rosemary So far the recent transplants are doing well. This is perfect weather so I may move them out front during the day this week and see how they do. Hubs has to go to work this afternoon and tomorrow morning so I’ll be working on the yard and shed while he’s gone.

ETA the flowers for the front, I’m going to put them along the walk from the driveway to the front door

Also, Elvis came to visit while I was looking at this area around the olive tree for the creeping thyme and one of the creeping rosemary starts I got today. He’s such a good boy and pretty to boot
