What did you do in the garden today?

I went out to spread the garden mulch and take down the new birdhouse out there to measure to make more. I can't take it down. It already has occupants, angry, angry occupants. And they've already moved in a full load of furniture and put up curtains. Good lord.
Don't walk outside here with your mouth open, or you'll end up with a nesting pair checking out your tonsils.

BTW, I recently purchased a 1 X 30 bench sander that is used to sharpen knives razor sharp. Don't know how to use it yet but will be trying it out this summer when the garage warms up. Nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. I hope to get our kitchen knives back in shape.
I bought a sharpening stone that is half coarse and half fine from Amazon. It came with a small stone cube that is used to keep or grind the stone even. In addition, they included an angle attachment that slides on to the back part of the knife or cleaver. It holds the same angle on both sides of the blade. However, the angle degree will vary from the back part of the knife to the front depending on the width of the knife, so the angle changes from the back to front, unless the knife or cleaver is square.

Good afternoon gardeners. I survived using my new chainsaw for the first time. I got a few logs that were lying on the ground cut to a more manageable size. It will be slow going because it’s all on a slope and it makes it a little challenging getting a steady stance. I’m seeing a lot of good logs to do some terraced style garden beds. Also DD suggested planting ground cover that spreads but doesn’t need mowing. I finally finished prepping the 16 foot garden bed so all of my existing beds are ready for planting. Still so much to do. Really happy to see a bluebird family may be moving into the bluebird house. The temperatures are going to be crazy warm here this week. I’m looking forward to it.

Alrighty, a HUGE punch list of annoying 'to do' items done. How I let my projects leave behind such a mess to clean up is beyond me.
After I picked up the shop I set to cutting out birdhouse pieces. I've got pieces for 4 bluebird boxes and have materials to make about 10 more. I want at least 4 for here, the rest I'll sell alongside tomato plants in May.
I need to put a bunch. I don't mind making them, but that's a LOT of cedar for me to wear.

Glorious today. sunny and 75, windy, and dry as a bone.
I moved the mums to the open, old hoop house. Now I wait to see if they wake up from their winter nap.

Well, I am still WAY behind... But I got a little bit done today. Planted my marshmallow starts around the pond. Seeded some flower beds, lettuce, arugula, and carrots.

Noticed that those hated tent caterpillars are on the move.... And EVERYWHERE. 🤬

I bought a Knife Sharpening Angle Guide for 1 x 30 Belt Sander for my sander.

Since I hope to use my sander to sharpen my woodchipper blades as well as kitchen knives, I need something to hold my stuff at the appropriate angle. This guide should help me to that.

** Note: In previous posts I mentioned my sander was 1 X 20. It's a 1 X 30 sander in case anyone was wondering. I have not yet used it, but we hit a high of 45F today so I hope that I will be out in the unheated garage soon working with things like my new sander.
