What did you do in the garden today?

I have not gotten one zucchini from my plant. :hmm

But I am overrun with tomatoes, from only four plants.

Here's what's left of my offering at work:

@Sammster
I did something different this year when I planted my tomatoes,,, after watching it done on a youtube video -- I put an egg in each hole, and I put my tomato in deep, up to the first 2 leaves. and for the first time ever I have 5 red tomatoes , now, before September. Typically I never get a red tomato until Sept. The plants are the deepest green I have ever had.

Thanks, Grandma! I watch Jess, too. I'll have to try to remember that for next year

My plan for today is to set up a real fence of sorts around my large raised bed. It's protected now, but with a helter skelter mix of fencing, remesh, rabbit cages, pallet wood and 2x4s. I have to crawl on my stomach to pick zucchini.

Things have grown a little since I set it up.

We used field tape at the top of the corn bed and fruit trees to keep the deer out and it has worked great

My neighbor has that type of garden. she put up a fence along the whole perimeter.(so there is an idea) I was excited, thinking I'l have another gardener in the neighborhood. She stoned in the whole thing except for a couple raised beds. This is year 3 I think and she's only grown a couple mint plants for her cocktails, she's not a gardener. 🤷 I have no idea. But her fence with a gate is similar to the enclosures you have built on your other beds.

I knew Ball and Kerr were really the same company, so I looked up others.
Well, nuts on a highwire.....
Newell

Newell (formerly Jarden): The home canning giant. Newell is a company that produces most of the Mason jars and Mason jar lids for North America. They do so under the following brand names: Ball, Bernardin, Golden Harvest, and Kerr.

Ball
is officially off my list. They are thin and buckling in the canner, the button pops down and not back up if there is no seal, and the seals are lasting in the pantry. (Check those jars for that hiss when you open them y'all.)

I've never seen Kerr here in the past 8 years. Golden Harvest I have, but rarely. Never heard of Bernadin.

Mennonite market it is. No idea where they are from.
