Good morning all,

It’s early yet but I’ve got everything outside so I can transplant the dragon fruit into a pot as soon the light permits. I have some lumber to move and some concrete blocks, then a couple of holes to dig in the yard. We’re in the 100s all week and that rots my socks I tell ya; I’m tired of being inside most of the day. I gotta go move the hose to a different shrub, have a great day all.

Nice! I always wanted to try growing dragonfruit.

Today was spent excavating the 1x1m concrete hole to a good depth and replacing the sand with actual compost. Then it was off to pick up the Oriental Plane Tree which is called Autumn Glory. I decided to also decapitate the philodendron and plant it in there. Tomorrow I'll probably check the remains of it out and carve it up to plant down in the chicken run.

Oh, my shih tzu Al got another bobtail for me to rescue so it was off to the shrublands yet again for the second bobtail. This one was colored similar to the last so who knows. Tomorrow I'm going to try to put a T off the pump by the water tank tomorrow but I'm hoping there's a valve to turn off the flow when I do it. I have to dig around all the piping carefully.

Yeah, they're all here at my house. We have grey and red squirrels, and now we have black squirrels. Used to see them every now and then, but they've certainly multiplied.

Lots and lots of chipmunks here too.

There are some black squirrels in a town not too far from us. I enjoy watching them when it town. I often tell my husband that I want some at my house. But then, I guess I don't really. We don't see squirrels very often anymore. I think the dogs scare them away--so it wouldn't do any good to bring a pair here. (I really am joking. I wouldn't really bring a pair of squirrels from town here!) I just think the black color is unique and pretty. I enjoy watching squirrels and other wildlife. At our previous home, we had lots of squirrels. They didn't care for the dog we had back then....they'd just sit up in the trees a make a racket scolding the dog! (I think we have too many dogs right now)

We still do have some red squirrels here, but the grey squirrels are on the move, they are larger and take over the territory of the red squirrels, which die out

I also found one dead mouse in a glas, she didn’t smell at all( I must admit, I didn’t stick my nose into the jar) she was desiccated, did I mention it almost never rains here?!

I don't think glass can absorb smells. That's why we put leftover fish in glass containers, not plastic. Also, the mouse nest and dead mice I found in the bottom of the storage bin were not all dried up. They were a stinky, slimy mess that smell awful. That bin was stored in a shed, so it never got wet, either. Probably would have been a lot better if the mice had dried out.

You don't have stick our nose in that storage bin, either. Just having it in your vicinity is bad enough. I am hoping to knock down the smell enough so that it can be used for storing something outside in the shed again. Other than the smell, it's like brand new.

Where do you live? I don't see any geographic info on your icon. I am dealing with lows in the 30's F and maybe mid-50's F for the high in the afternoon. My gardening was over a week and a half ago when we dipped below freezing at nights.

I had relatives that lived in Las Vegas, NV. I would not visit them in the summertime because it was just too hot for me. But this time of year, I would have thought Phoenix would be much cooler than 100s F! Like, maybe in the 80s F?

I know many people wonder how I can live in northern Minnesota with all our cold winter months, but I can put on a sweater in the house or a heavy coat for outside and be comfortable. When it gets hot, there is only so much clothing you take off and still that might not be enough if the temps are in the 100s F. At least I hope it's a dry heat. It's the combination of heat and humidity that gets to me.
