No. I think people are much the same everywhere about things like that. Finding out how nosy the people around you are might be more likely in less populated places.
The best things about those kind of places here they are cheaper. I flirt with the idea of living the hobby farm life in a place less populated but wonder how I'd go eventually with the loneliness of it. Animals take care of that I guess.
Is it bad I thought I posted this reply last night?
Today was a day or nothing really, I guess I'm one of those guys that gets annoyed when I don't get a task done; was too busy gasbagging to family and missed the butchers/bakery so tonight is a night of processed goodies! Taking stock of it all and thinking I'll probably go about using some more fish hydrolysate tomorrow. The green house is really powering along after using that rosemary stuff. It says it supposed to work from 2 weeks onwards but I'm seeing results quicker in the NFT.
Meanwhile, the thin scarlet radish is getting thinned by pests. I may have to think about using the oil out there. The volunteer tomato is really exploding and I'm wondering if it's a cherry variety. I must admit, I do seem to like their size and anything under. They are quick and even when you get them from coles, I find the smaller types more flavorsome than the usual truss, roma, field tomatoes. But I'm no tomato connoisseur. If I can pull off one of these heirloom types I'll be really happy as those are types I've always wanted.
Now do I cheat and go to a food grocers market to try some heirlooms before mine are ready? The temptation is there. Still gotta seed the bed better. One good thing about the 2x2m pod in the grove is that I planted out some ruby basil and since my old worm farm is there and it's very protected and sheltered, even they are rocking. I'm kinda pissed I didn't take a pic of it. Maybe tomorrow!
The kratkies are all getting bigger and bigger and I wonder if I'm going to have to start pruning or just try to organize it instead. My biggest fear is the one with three varieties as two seem to be monstering along while one is hanging back a bit.
Speaking of monsters. Queen of the Greenhouse the viet mint is really getting big again and starting to take over. I wonder if another root mass cut back is due. My 60L res is getting drained but it's kind of odd because when I test the nutrient level, all that's being taken mostly is the water so I don't tend to have to mess with the NPK too much after a top up.
You can see my little tomato I plucked out of the coco next to my tower fan. It's okay ventilation but I'm flirting with something mounted higher. Like an industrial fan, one on opposite corners. My big problem with something like that is one; power and then secondly. Controlling the flow.
The pizza thyme got gobbled up a bit by pests before I got onto the rosemary oil, the lemon variegated version already underwent the hard yards so is kinda happy. I think the only thing I don't like about thyme is the bloody time required for them to grow. I may have to think about using the baby NFT I have yet to put up and try to put a tonne of clones out in them under netting along the fence. **** I waffle on but I swear. One more thing. Really happy with finding one of those thai round chillies already fruiting. I should really look into how to clone chillies or even if it's possible. I don't like the heat of the carolinas and what not, just the flavor of the habanero styles and jalapenos.
