What did you do in the garden today?

DW had a blood draw today. In town anyway so I browsed the big box stores garden center. Bought a package of bare root Goldstrom daisy. Clear package and picked one showing life. I will not buy what I cannot see. Looked for pro mix. Lowes had Sunshine mix in bales. It has aggerate in it. Seemed sandy. I passed. Checked Menards online for pro mix. 2 stores had some and marked discontinued. :(
It's marked that way every off season online.
I'd be shocked if it were, it's pretty popular. I hope not. I have 2.5 cubes left but that won't go far.

It's 'stupid hot pepper sauce' day, or as DH calls it -SuRacha.
9lbs of mostly super hots, the least hot ones are jalapenos & it goes up to the hottest you can grow. Please pray for me, I just put them on the stove. I was choking just washing the cutting board. :gig

One year I decided to make organic pesticide spray with habanero peppers. I was careful to wear gloves when making it but thought I didn't need them when actually spraying it on my plants. Oh, how WRONG I was... 😳 My hands burned for days.

I pulled a bucket of weeds for the chickens today. I saw a few of our bees out and about.

It's too warm. Please, please, don't bud out, fruit trees and blueberry bushes. Please.
I found a honey bee in our driveway yesterday. I kept trying to pick the little fella up but he kept falling off my glove. I managed to get him into the grass and I walked back to the house for a minute. As I returned I realized I'd made a huge mistake leaving him there. I scared off a good half dozen sparrows. I looked through the grass for the little guy but couldn't find him. Pretty sure he became someone's dinner.

Yikes! What did you spray with it? & did it work?

I'm saving some of the millings from my batch to make red pepper flakes, then the rest will go to the chickens.
DH tasted it & said it was the hottest sauce he's ever had & he has a jar of Mad Dog 357 (the hottest sauce in the world). I'll have to ask him tmrw, I can't imagine mine is hotter than that. But I'm going to tone it down a bit tmrw & can it, I have no room in the freezer.

We are supposed to have a big warm up next week too. I need to prune the peach tree still.

We are hitting the high 30s today :D currently 36.7C / 98.1F so I watered early, cleaned dog buckets, and rescued 2 water dragons from a garbage bin that is used to collect rain water. I wonder how they got in there! I could hear a banging while I was sorting kale; it was the lizards jumping up the sides of the bin. The poor creatures would have roasted in there today.

I sprayed my tomato plants that were covered in aphids. That was back when I was an absolute neophyte to garden. My plants ended up dying that season but it's hard to say whether it was the habanero spray, pests, too small of a growing container, or over- or under-watering. 😂
