If I could ship water to you I would. It finally stopped raining here. The forecast is for another 1.5 inches of rain Saturday night into Sunday then a dry week after that. Fingers crossed . There’s so much to do outside.

One each of Apricot, Plum, and Nectarine tree have a few blossoms developing. They are young trees, never blossomed before. Probably no fruit this year though- but, if one or two develop I’ll be happy.

Looks like one tree peony (of 3) may be dead. I’ll have to contact the company to see about a replacement.

Rainy night and rainy day. Bought a couple of plants and seeds when I bought a new coffee maker yesterday. I so want to start seeds soon.

This is the lowest price I have seen on these totes in years.

Lots of gardeners are using these totes to make DIY Earthboxes, sub-irrigated planters, compost bins, worm bins, etc...

They also make great stackable storage totes as well.

Trying Burmese - Burma okra this year. Pods are tender to about 9 inches. 2.8 inches of rain the other day. 96 percent chance of rain tonight. Sowed some seeds in pots. Germination test showed good except one variety. Waiting to start tomato seeds about 15th. I could hardly walk on sore foot yesterday. Much better today. Coffee pot quit. Going to buy one later today.

I don't like the light green color and deep rib texture of the 16-inch okra variety from Bakers Creek. I prefer the green regular 4 to 6-inch smooth ridge type. The 16-inch type breaks down and doesn't hold its shape in gumbo. I wonder how your Burma okra holds up in gumbo?

I finally got around to making the Kentucky Caviar. I made half a recipe and added one onion, a bunch of quartered sun gold cherry tomatoes, chopped tamed pickled jalapeno and 1/2tsp of garlic salt.

I found all the ingredients at my local Walmart, the other day.

It tastes like a salsa, it can be used as a salad dressing, dip or hot dog bun topping. I already ate a bowl of it with my Tostitos Scoops.

So excited, I got out & did some gardening (barefoot!) on this beautiful day.
I amended the top 3 tiers of my GreenStalk with some perlite & worm castings & got lettuce & spinach planted. That's as much as I could do, still recovering from surgery & on no bending, lifting, twisting or reaching for 7 more weeks. Felt good to get some Vit D before the rain comes back tomorrow.
I caught a wren trying to make a nest in the top waterer of my GS, glad she didn't get too far because I had to evict her. I felt bad & left the cover off so she doesn't come back. Will have to remedy that situation somehow.

I also evicted a mouse from my garden shed. I think I killed him last week though, but his house got torn down today.

i just got my jerusalem artichoke all settled for this year!! 10x40 side yard garden is all jerusalem artichokes. (and some peppermint that may come back)
