What did you do in the garden today?

We got another 1/2 inch rain over night but the humidity is a little lower than yesterday so it’s not quite as disgusting. I managed a walk through of the gardens after I fed the chickens. The squash, watermelons, beans and tomatoes are loving this weather. Of course the okra is having a good time as well. I have beans developing on all 3 varieties. Surprisingly, the pinto beans that were slow to grow are finally perking up and developing beans as well. Some of my fingerling potatoes are dying back. I’m hoping they have tubers / potatoes under them. Unfortunately the grass is also loving this hot, humid weather and growing like crazy. I’ll get there.

Green beans are growing!

Still early here 10 in the morning.
I am still waiting for the birds in the little coop to lay.
Some are close I have three nesting boxes in there.
Garden is going great lot's of carrots and beets, radish.
You know, I haven't pulled a single carrot out of the ground this year yet. I dug around the top of one and it was around one inch in diameter so I should probably go ahead and start eating them.

Afternoon all. Elvis and Toast left today, the three girls seem to be getting along well, things are so much calmer! Gave them some water in a pool and have an ice block defrosting a little bit so I can dump it in, starting early in the day with ice seems to help. Got the feeders out of the coop and gave the inside a good hosing, then put the fan up in a new spot. It’s all opened up with a breeze blowing through. Now to get the girls and the babies in there at night.

How long do bush beans produce for? I usually only do pole beans as bush always hurt my back picking. I succession planted them in a GreenStalk & I think the first round of them are about done. A month maybe of producing - does that seem right?

Not planting the dragons tongue anymore, not happy with them, I'll stick to my purples.

In my experience with the bush beans, the more you pick, the more they produce. And yes they can be hard on the back. I opted for bush beans over pole beans this year because they were easier to deter Bambi and friends grabbing a midnight snack. It’s been a bit more tolerable today with the slightly lower humidity. The high today was 89F. Tomorrow is supposed to hit 90F. Ugh! I have a medical appointment and errand to run. I’m so glad the AC in my car works really well. Clearly there won’t be any gardening tomorrow.
