I wanted to share my adventure into yogurt making. I made my first small batch as a fun activity to do with the grandkids. I used the recipe for homemade yogurt from the Old Farmers Almanac website. I was never a fan of yogurt but I thought it would be fun. The recipe is so easy. You heat the milk then cool it a bit, whisk in 1/2 cup of unflavored greek yogurt, Wrap the pot in dish towels and put it in the oven to do its fermenting. Don’t turn the oven on. I left the pot in the oven overnight. In the morning you get this amazing creamy yogurt. The bonus is it cost half of what you would pay in the grocery store. The flavor is really good and I’m on my second batch now.
there is another version. instead of yogurt we can put freshly squeezed lemon juice. never tried it but they say it tastes better and yogurt is less dense. when my goats grow, breed, give birth - sometimes next year I'll be doing that. I would like to make a drinkable yogurt.
