What did you do in the garden today?

They could yes.

HUGE storm blew through here SLOWLY, it took an HOUR.
It was incredible.
It started with it kicking up dust like the 30s dust bowl, then came the 70+ mph winds, 80 just down the road from me. It hit the city hard and toppled a ridiculous number of those poorly trimmed, top heavy city trees. 30,000 ppl are without power ATM. And all 44 pumps that supply water to Lincoln are without power.
In OMaha, 220,000 ppl are without power.

We have power and water :) I maintain this place for high winds. We had one branch in a paper birch tree that was in the wind tunnel area by the edge of the shop. The winds there can go over 100.
Those water pumps have no backup power? Wow, that’s crazy.

So, should I get a box and bury it? Grow box or bag is what I mean.
My soil is too compacted to grow these still.

The red air is all the dust kicked up in the air.
What an eerily beautiful picture.

It's nasty out here. Super humid & rain on & off for days with hot sun in between.

I have a few squash observations...while the spaghetti squash is weak from powdery mildew it got while I was away & the cukes & cantaloupe are succumbing to bacterial wilt from the cucumber beetles the tromboncino squash is happily ignoring all the issues & growing like a champ! It's even in the same bed with the powdery mildew squash. I decided to let it grow to store as a winter squash so I haven't eaten any yet.

Also the yellow crookneck are doing great thanks to growing vertically, trimming incessantly & vacuuming any squash bugs. I think I vacuumed up 3 a while ago & haven't seen a single sign of them since - loving my vacuum. No sign of SVB either (yet).

Good squash year.

Does anyone shop at Aldi? If so what’s your store like? We have one store that’s not even that close and I wasn’t impressed. The tortillas weren’t fresh, selection wasn’t great, etc
I don't have one near me, but I did years ago - wasn't impressed way back then. It's weird the obsession people have with Aldi! If I had one close I'd give it another shot.
