What did you do with your flock today?

Today I took Callia to the vet.

Look at how beautiful she is.

You wouldn't imagine that she took A MASSIVE SH!T in the waiting room and embarrassed the hell out of me.

Poor thing, she got stress-related diarrhea :(

Us humans are never satisfied, are we? Always wanting what we don't have! 😆 Trust me, if you'd had the prolonged rain we've had, you'd be longing for your beautiful desert. At least you're not up to your ankles in sticky, smelly mud...😂
I don't think I'd ever adjust to heat - I swear DH and I are the only people on the planet to go to somewhere like Thailand for 3 weeks and come back paler than when we went 🤣

How are your miracle kitties, btw?
They're the most adorable pieces of purrfection! 😻😻😻 I'm truly blessed getting to share my life with them... they're best friends and buddies together. Never met such vocal babies...they follow me around and yowl for attention 😂

Thailand must have been a pleasure! I've always wanted to see their floating boat market! That's hot and humid there...I gotta say I prefer dry heat!

I left the brooder doors open today, all day. The latest hatch are doing well, keeping out of the hens' way, but darting in between their legs when I was casting grape bits to the flock. I purposely cut up the fruit into tinier pieces in case any of the littlest ate them.

The juvies, aka cockerels were very active at roosting time, and I think they irritated the hens.

Rahab is being tolerant.

Ouch!

They're headed for the auction on Saturday, but I may keep one (or 2) since I don't currently have a rooster. Decisions, decisions...

:love
Those are such gorgeous boys! I'd be awfully tempted too. Breeding parents to children is a really common practice in breeding projects. Sibling breeding is the bad one for inbreeding. Such darling birds you have!

Same old everything here. Talked to my White mountain friend Bert today and agreed to trade a pea baby for a couple young royal palm turkeys. He just bought a gorgeous 4 yr old Java boy from someone else and he's over the moon happy. Pea baby has to grow a bit to handle the drive well since Bert's a 6 hour drive away. But we're both excited. I've always admired royal palms and my silver pied baby has wonderful markings, so everyone's happy.

Sold some more little hens and have people touching base waiting for more. Kinda tempting to go nuts hatching until I look at the baby boys growing up. I wonder if there's a bird auction anywhere here I could take them to? All my friends are full up on roosters anymore and I still hate running ads 😂😭.

Me too.

The cockerels are 8 weeks old, it's hard to decide which one to keep. The adult feathers aren't in, the personality is not set due to raging hormones, but I cannot keep them any longer. My coop is on the verge of chaos and I have no place to house them.

Why did all five have to be boys?!
:barnie
Blame Momma Hen. They 'decide' if the chick is going to be a boy or a girl.
I cursed Pru for months once it was clear her one and only. chick was a boy :hit

Trust a chicken to do it's best to embarrass their owners! When I took Stan to the allotment recently, he 'introduced ' himself to the new neighbours by humping their chihuahua puppy. Poor thing was traumatised for life, I think :th 🤣
Seriously, though, is Callia o.k.?

Oh! They are just too adorable 😍 😍😍😍😍
I bet you bless the day you decided to help them.
I have a real soft spot for calico. My first cat was a stray calico with tabby stripes - what we call "tortie-tabby" over here.

I am hopeless with humidity! I prefer dry heat too so Thailand wasn't the best choice in that respect.

You'd think with all the canals, Venice would be as bad but the breeze from the Adriatic helps so much. I adore Venice, it's just so beautiful.

Ooh, how exciting! I've never kept turkeys but always wanted to. Such silly but magnificent birds 🦃🦃🦃
