What did you do with your flock today?

Oh!!! I'm so happy for yall!!! This is awesome! Congratulations!
Yeah I wouldn't be too excited bout the high up stuff either!

That's just the thing...Joey does ALL of that! He's always been quite gentle! Even when it was him and his brother Grayson and Zoe and Josie (brothers n sisters all hatchmates) all he ever really did was chase Grayson each morning for bout 30 mins round the run and an occasional hair pulling of girls before they were ready.
He's my lap roo and never had this many problems!

So it has to be hormones causing this with all these babies and the girls (Lizzy and Daisy) about to start laying?!
He's always been so super cute giving the girls and babies treats and finding em all kinds of stuff. He's not super alerted and all crazy like Grayson was....he literally was on high alert ALL the time. Joey has always been much more laid back and relaxed but took care of everything.
Joey even pecked Grayson on the head whenever Grayson would be ugly to me and I'd have Gray's in a hold position on the ground!
I guess I'm just really mad at myself for rehoming Zoe and Josie cause I thought I could do this amazing breeding project and now I have d'uccles and cochins (not necessarily a bad thing but not at all what I had set out to do either) and I feel like his behavior is because of my actions!!!
So I'm getting what I deserve....and he hasn't deserved any of this!
My first roo, Mango, went nutso a lot worse whenever we were building the new coop...it did take forever cause we didn't wanna hire it out and thought we were helping our my son-in-law financially but if we had known what we know now (my metal structure run would collapse and we would end up having to hire someone to build me an actual rule all enclosed with hardware cloth and metal roofing) then we definitely would have had someone that does that for a living build the coop...it took them 3 days to build my sturdy gorgeous run! It took my son-in-law gosh 3 or 4 months to build the coop and it still doesn't have windows or trim and hasn't been painted or sealed.
I'm just really frustrated that I learn and do by trial and error rather than working smarter and thinking things through before a lot of headaches!
Ok...I'll let yall get back to your lives now if ya stayed with me through all this rant!
Thank yall for all your support and encouragement!!! It truly means a lot!
I love how that chicken is laying in your lap! It’s just the best 😍 I’m also glad you had a lovely day today! We only hit 106 today! Felt downright cool after yesterday’s 116! We are going back up to 112 tomorrow, 108 Friday, and supposedly 90 by Saturday. I can’t WAIT! Never have I looked so forward to 90! My poultry Facebook groups have been sad posts about heat related chicken deaths all week. Makes me so sad for them and stressed out for me. So far I’ve only had to douse one chicken and bring in my severe molting girl Honey…I’m worried she won’t make it thru this molt. It’s a hard hard molt and she seems somewhat disinterested in eating. I fed her two eggs mixed with Nutridrench today and gave her some vitamin B to help as much as possible. Fingers crossed!

Honestly, all this rooster talk has made me a little exhausted lol. I am eventually going to have to bring Spider & Co down and dread the mess I am sure I have made 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Drama, drama, drama lol.
Yesterday, after unloading my truck, getting Pi'i and chicks set up in the roo pen, brooder scrubbed and new nesting materials and Faith and her eggs in and settled, compost turned, run de-moonscaped (thank you broody Pi'i), yard watered, feed bins filled, calls made, chickens admired and cats fed and petted and then refed and repetted... x5 🙄View attachment 3251429View attachment 3251430View attachment 3251432View attachment 3251445View attachment 3251436After I fed our horses and picked up poop, filled water etc and on my way up to spend time and make my honey dinner- I ran into a lose horse about 15' from the road and as there were mostly all tourist heading down the mountain, I needed to stop and try and get her safe. Not in the plan but oh well, I'm pretty prepared for this stuff. View attachment 3251467
Sweet old gal haltered right up and I started making calls and tracing hoof prints and checking for fences. I just could not figure where she came from but thankgoodness for terrific horse gal pals and their coconut wireless. After about 40 minutes her people were located -being I am a rolling tack and feed store- she snacked on a bag of alfalfa and we waited for her people. The whole thing took a little over an hour but the view was stunning with a good breeze and terrific company.View attachment 3251474View attachment 3251475back on the road to my honeyView attachment 3251478
I would love to just have random horses come along my path! It’s awesome you stopped to help and even more awesome to have that view while you waited!

Those are terrible temps! I hope your chickens make it!! I hope Honey pulls through!

Goats! I want goats, you should definitely get some and share all about them here 🙃 I can live vicariously through you! 😍
Goats are in the plain. Along with the ducks and Brahmas, and I’m almost 100% sure my husband is going to want moo moos as well. I’m trying to talk him out of the moo moos cause I couldn’t butcher them or send them off and eat them. Nope. Nope nope. Part of me thinks he wants all the animals and agreeing to it so it is less yard for him to mow 😂 However, I’m still good with it. It would be a win win 😁

So jealous! I want mini dairy cows and goats! It’s awesome that your husband is just as into it as you are! My husband is not an animal person really, nor is he a rural type! Love him to death but I think all this talk of cows and goats has him panicking just a tiny bit 😆😆😆 he has really enjoyed the chickens though, even though he doesn’t do much with them. I’ll break him down eventually, his heart is too soft to not see how awesome cows and goats are! 😁😁😁

I know, it’s awful 😢 we are hemorrhaging money buying ice and frozen fruits and veggies and watermelons. Glad it’s only been about a week of this, we can’t afford much more! I hope Honey makes it too, she sleeps a lot and I don’t know if I should be doing a bunch more for her or let her be and be patient 😢😢 She seems to have gotten more blind and is struggling 😢 Blah, she’s just the most gentle bird, I hate seeing her sad.

Thanks, me too! It’s just gross and dangerous heat! And it already triggered a fire in the mountains just east of here, so the next round will be losing them to ashy poor air quality! It never ends! 😩😩😩
