What did you do with your flock today?

It was a LUVLY morning....nice, quiet, gentle breeze blowing as I sat with all my babies! I held em all...not at same time of course. Lizzy especially enjoyed some close snuggles! Daisy too!!! Even ole Bluey enjoyed some luvins and he never enjoys it! Got the teenagers all some snuggle time too! N Joey helped me do some chores and was pretty good after his evening alone in bachelor pad!

@TropicalBabies Poor little baby! Ok well she isn’t little but poor thing!

We have contemplated on getting goats. And we have come across and offer that would be really hard to pass up. An older guy has an old property fenced off for cows and goats and I really don’t know what all else. The house is still there and a bunch of old cars but it’s clear and has been clear that no one actually lives in it. Every time I drive by I want to get the goats and cow. They have room to move around and are fine, just I want them. 😂 anyway. I made a comment to my husband about it and then like a week later we find out that he actually wants to get rid of 4. He would keep 2 but can’t take care of 4. I asked how much does he want for them and my husband said nothing, to just take ‘em. Well we don’t clearly have a place for them yet, but it would be easy to do. I just told my husband that if anything he could keep them there until we had a place ready and we could just go over and help take care of them. Last night driving home one of the goats was out by the road eating grass. I slowed down and he went back. But it is clearly not safe for them if they are getting out. And this road is a really well traveled one. It’s one that connects several towns. We haven’t heard anything for the guy but I’m hoping to soon.

Until then though we worked on the duck coop some more. We got another 50’ of fence on it. So it is about 7’ tall. Another 25’ or so and the second row of fencing will be done on it. The duck house itself won’t take long to do either.

What I should have done and maybe in hindsight. Was tie her up, go get our trailer and load her up and take her to our pasture or up the mountain and spoil her for a bit and let them come looking for her lol. I feel like I did not get enough time with that gentile soul. She apparently has a pasture close by but goodnessknowwhere. I will go back and look for her and sneak her a few carrots (and maybe a dewormer) if I can find her.

We had two young adult horses show up in our front yard once and I did like you. They were skittish but I got them to follow me to our fenced area so they were safe and then got on the phone til I was able to find the owners. When they came, they took out their ropes and started whiping them round til they caught each, then they ran around them to loop the rope under the tail and back up to the head and ran em home with force. I thought to myself, no wonder they're skittish. I knew I could have gotten a lead rope on them without all the fear and drama. Those previously nervously calm horses were scared and acting semi wild in response. But...I did what I hope others would do if my horses got out. It bothered me though and I sure wish I could have just kept the pair.
Hope she gets those carrots ❤️

Well, spiders and wild lost beasts are in our stars, or trending on this thread... depending which generation one is from 🤔
If I can find her 🥕😉 you betcha!! I picked up 2 big packs from Costco last shop so must be kismet. ♡♡♡ kindred 🐔 sisters on this thread giving me permission lol. I'm sure we could get ourselves into all kinds of trouble without even trying.

FBM I hope goats are in your future. I think 2 will be easy to absorb so what is 2 more right? 😂 also, love your enabling aka partner in crime husband.

Omg those poor things! I would have a hard time with something like that. They would have to hope and pray my husband wouldn’t be around if something like that happened to us. He is one that would say and do something about it. I would try but I hate confrontation….though I think I would have enough back up from my kids that I wouldn’t have a hard time with it. I don’t get why people treat them so bad. The right care and they could be amazing animals. Breaks my heart

Oh the fun we all could have though!

And yes he is bad 😂. He can’t tell me no, even if he does the first time, we both know that it will change. He is still talking about a Brahma coop for me too! Which I’m totally excited for! I’m hoping though we can get the goats. The escapee was mostly black and a little black. Wasn’t very big and FLUFFY! We have no idea what breeds they are or if they are mixed. But I’m ok with that! Especially if it gets them away from the road and in a secure area. But I know that if this doesn’t work I have a back up plan. The lady that delivered 4 of my 6 kids had goats! I would just love miniature ones and I’m not 100% sure what she has either. I haven’t spoken to her about it yet but hope to soon.

I said nothing because they obviously had a lot more experience then me, their under tail wrap gave them visible excellent control and because I know horses can be dangerous. I just didn't think it was kind because it was done roughly...probably trying to get it done fast. Anyhow, hopefully they took them home, calmed them down and gave them a carrot.
I'd rather see a horse raised and handled calmly then roughly trained though. I think it makes animal and man happier.

Maybe that was it. I sure hope that isn’t a daily basis.
