What did you do with your flock today?

Yes she did!!!! She is a happy little girl!
Oh!!! I'm so happy for yall!!! This is awesome! Congratulations!
Yeah I wouldn't be too excited bout the high up stuff either!
Poor Lizzy! Hopefully at least one boy will reach the point where he starts calling the ladies to him with treats and tidbits, and plopping himself into possible nesting spots and calling the ladies to come inspect it etc. A mature good rooster knows how to charm his ladies quite sweetly!
That's just the thing...Joey does ALL of that! He's always been quite gentle! Even when it was him and his brother Grayson and Zoe and Josie (brothers n sisters all hatchmates) all he ever really did was chase Grayson each morning for bout 30 mins round the run and an occasional hair pulling of girls before they were ready.
He's my lap roo and never had this many problems!

So it has to be hormones causing this with all these babies and the girls (Lizzy and Daisy) about to start laying?!
He's always been so super cute giving the girls and babies treats and finding em all kinds of stuff. He's not super alerted and all crazy like Grayson was....he literally was on high alert ALL the time. Joey has always been much more laid back and relaxed but took care of everything.
Joey even pecked Grayson on the head whenever Grayson would be ugly to me and I'd have Gray's in a hold position on the ground!
I guess I'm just really mad at myself for rehoming Zoe and Josie cause I thought I could do this amazing breeding project and now I have d'uccles and cochins (not necessarily a bad thing but not at all what I had set out to do either) and I feel like his behavior is because of my actions!!!
So I'm getting what I deserve....and he hasn't deserved any of this!
My first roo, Mango, went nutso a lot worse whenever we were building the new coop...it did take forever cause we didn't wanna hire it out and thought we were helping our my son-in-law financially but if we had known what we know now (my metal structure run would collapse and we would end up having to hire someone to build me an actual rule all enclosed with hardware cloth and metal roofing) then we definitely would have had someone that does that for a living build the coop...it took them 3 days to build my sturdy gorgeous run! It took my son-in-law gosh 3 or 4 months to build the coop and it still doesn't have windows or trim and hasn't been painted or sealed.
I'm just really frustrated that I learn and do by trial and error rather than working smarter and thinking things through before a lot of headaches!
Ok...I'll let yall get back to your lives now if ya stayed with me through all this rant!
Thank yall for all your support and encouragement!!! It truly means a lot!

Yeah that sounds perfect for little dudes! I bought myself a mini circular saw so I might try my hand at a simple coop and run for the boys this winter!
Oh my goodness, that is terrific! And you can build it to your spec and conditions! ♡♡♡♡ think you are on to something.
Little Lunch keeps trying to mount Fuzzbert (his surrogate MOM) and today I watched her fight him and he ran away eventually haha.
K. Your names crack me up. I personally love when the gals give them a whallop. Pretty good life's lesson lol

Multiple roosters has been working out well though so far...well, as long as the separate flocks are let out one at a time.
Oh, there is hope... I like hope, hope is good. ♡♡♡
Schultz is a little better today.
That is terrific to hear. 🤞🙏 really good and hopeful signs

Trial and error is how we all learn though so it's ok. :hugs
I can see why you're feeling frustrated...you had a great guy and he suddenly turned. Sounds like it started when you rehomed his sister's?

Sorry about the cost of the wire. It will last a long time and you will be happy in the end but yeah, buying that stuff is sobering. $500 dollar eggs for sure.
Aw, c'mon. we all know we're just into chickens for the "free eggs," right? At least, that's what everyone who's never kept them thinks ...
:barnie

Honestly, all this rooster talk has made me a little exhausted lol. I am eventually going to have to bring Spider & Co down and dread the mess I am sure I have made 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Drama, drama, drama lol.
Yesterday, after unloading my truck, getting Pi'i and chicks set up in the roo pen, brooder scrubbed and new nesting materials and Faith and her eggs in and settled, compost turned, run de-moonscaped (thank you broody Pi'i), yard watered, feed bins filled, calls made, chickens admired and cats fed and petted and then refed and repetted... x5 🙄

After I fed our horses and picked up poop, filled water etc and on my way up to spend time and make my honey dinner- I ran into a lose horse about 15' from the road and as there were mostly all tourist heading down the mountain, I needed to stop and try and get her safe. Not in the plan but oh well, I'm pretty prepared for this stuff.

Sweet old gal haltered right up and I started making calls and tracing hoof prints and checking for fences. I just could not figure where she came from but thankgoodness for terrific horse gal pals and their coconut wireless. After about 40 minutes her people were located -being I am a rolling tack and feed store- she snacked on a bag of alfalfa and we waited for her people. The whole thing took a little over an hour but the view was stunning with a good breeze and terrific company.

That horse is a lucky lady!

What I should have done and maybe in hindsight. Was tie her up, go get our trailer and load her up and take her to our pasture or up the mountain and spoil her for a bit and let them come looking for her lol. I feel like I did not get enough time with that gentile soul. She apparently has a pasture close by but goodnessknowwhere. I will go back and look for her and sneak her a few carrots (and maybe a dewormer) if I can find her.
