What did you do with your flock today?

So jealous! I want mini dairy cows and goats! It’s awesome that your husband is just as into it as you are! My husband is not an animal person really, nor is he a rural type! Love him to death but I think all this talk of cows and goats has him panicking just a tiny bit 😆😆😆 he has really enjoyed the chickens though, even though he doesn’t do much with them. I’ll break him down eventually, his heart is too soft to not see how awesome cows and goats are! 😁😁😁
I could totally do miniature milking cows. Or just milking cows. I couldn’t send any off for butcher, unless I auctioned them off. I don’t think I could ever really be the time to eat my animals like that. My husband is for sure an animal lover. I’m sure that that helps in my favor. We drive by those goats every day and we both look over like one is going to jump in our truck and rid away with us 🤣. Today I told him I had to have the miniature ones and especially the fluffy black one! I’m sure he is going to make calls this morning. His boss is friends with the owner so it’s easier for him to get the info we need.

I know, it’s awful 😢 we are hemorrhaging money buying ice and frozen fruits and veggies and watermelons. Glad it’s only been about a week of this, we can’t afford much more! I hope Honey makes it too, she sleeps a lot and I don’t know if I should be doing a bunch more for her or let her be and be patient 😢😢 She seems to have gotten more blind and is struggling 😢 Blah, she’s just the most gentle bird, I hate seeing her sad.
I wish I had advice but I don’t have much myself. I have plans though that the vegetables from the garden this year that I freeze may go to the girls next year for when it gets hot. And I haven’t experienced a molt yet. Though looking in their run you would think they are. I do know it can be stressful and adding heat to it doesn’t help. Part of me thinks that just doing what you are will be ok. Like a child or yourself when not feeling well, rest is best. 🤷‍♀️ It honestly though sounds like you are doing enough from what I have read from other peoples posts. Crossing my fingers for you!

Surely cooler temps are coming for yall!
I finally got to put the coop fan up. True answer to prayers! !
Whats wrong with Honey?
I've never had one bigger than newly hatched chicks have problems so idk what to look for other than mites or blood. But Lizzy is acting very unusual.
Trying not to be a worry wort but she's my fav of course! She's just sitting on the top of the brooder. She does come over to me but she's not getting down hardly at all to eat and drink.
She did sleep with the others on their porch last night but I sat her down to drink water and eat I think is the only reason why.
She almost acts like a broody but she isn't even laying yet!
She is talking though and all that has changed quite a bit in the last few weeks for both her and Daisy.
Gonna keep an eye on her and see.

She might be broody-ish! Sia and Cher both tried being broody before laying eggs. Sounds like you should definitely keep an eye on her!

Honey is about 16-18 months old so she’s going through a really hard molt. I’ve dusted her for mites, looked her over for anything else and she’s not showing signs of being sick other than lethargy and limited food intake.

One of my other hens molted hard like this too, and spent a lot of time sitting. Still does, because she even lost her flight feathers! Poor things! Gonna try more eggs today, as she was pretty into them yesterday.

And just for a little funny…we refilled the brooder feeder and a few mins later it sounded like one of the chicks was freaking out so Aria checked…and found this 😆

That is just too funny! I wish I kept it but after the ducks were killed I deleted everything. I couldn’t bare to see it anymore. But my kids were helping get the ducks out of their brooder and of course wasn’t handled much before we got them so they were freaking out. Well for their water I used an old milk jug and cut holes out for them. Well one of the white ones went into the milk jug and only his head was sticking out. After that he did it every time and he got carried outside that way. He didn’t mind being carried that way either lol

I hope this molt goes fast for her. I’m probably going to be freaking out when my 18 do this.

Goats are in the plain. Along with the ducks and Brahmas, and I’m almost 100% sure my husband is going to want moo moos as well. I’m trying to talk him out of the moo moos cause I couldn’t butcher them or send them off and eat them. Nope. Nope nope. Part of me thinks he wants all the animals and agreeing to it so it is less yard for him to mow 😂 However, I’m still good with it. It would be a win win 😁
Goats are so much fun! We raised em for a while for milking and cheese making. But my hubby's a bit like @kurby22 's hubby. He's from a long time ranching family but he's a book worm who really doesn't enjoy the outdoors, animals or any of that. He's been very tolerant of me that way all these years!
Anyhow, he always wanted me to butcher the baby goats and I wanted to sell or give them away. All the babies got loved on so much by the kids ya know. The goats got to wear Santa hats and fall asleep in laps. My youngest with one of her favorites from long ago❤️

What a silly chick!
Does Honey get layer feed? I like to give hard molt birds lay feed with diatomaceous earth mixed in. I had a mollacan (sp?) cockatoo with bad feathers. I can't remember why I tried diatomaceous earth in her feed...but I did and it helped. Gosh that's annoying that I can't remember why! Anyhow, it was years and years ago and for some reason led me to adding it to chicken feed for hard molt birds. 🤷‍♀️ That's so unhelpful when I can't remember the why for it! It's going to bother me all day now until I figure it out!

The lady I sold some dwarfs to entered them in a bird show and won first place ❤️❤️❤️

Of course, showing dwarfs isn't the same as recognized breeds, and they were probably the only dwarfs there. But I'm tickled because I sold her a roo that I felt had imperfections (I made sure she knew the roo was imperfect) and a hen I felt was perfect. The hen won and the roo didn't.

That is awesome!! How did she enter them? I would like to this coming Fair year just to get them some more attention but not sure what category I can put them in! AOCL?
