What did you do with your flock today?

And here I am occasionally feeding my chickens fruit, brown rice or veggies if they get lucky. Obviously I am a boring chicken mom

I delivered a dozen fresh eggs to my neighbor yesterday and she let me take some of the partially ripened apples that dropped from her tree for the chickens to try. And they do like apples, I found. They only got four small apples, since I didn't know how they'd affect their systems. So far, so good.

The bean guard I installed yesterday worked for the most part, but the persistent chickens still had some success eating some bean leaves through the 1" square holes. They didn't eat enough to worry me, so all's good!



And I cooked the last of my store bought eggs today, so I won't have to settle for low quality commercial eggs any more.

My bobtail cochins are really weird about treats too! They won't eat watermelon or corn! Silly weirdos!

I didn't think there was an animal that doesn't like watermelon! Even my dogs will munch on it, and the horse will follow you to the ends of the earth in the hope you'll share some with her

Awww, sweet Piggie He's starting to figure out you aren't like the others he may have encountered! Hope it goes well and he's making lots of positive progress!

I'm not sure if we're really making progress as far as getting him to like people. But he's at least stopped screaming when I touch him. Well...at least until I got weird and put a harness on him.
Hoping for his sake though. I kind want to just get him a companion pig and let him be happy as a non-people pig. But, then I might have to name and keep him.

Hehehe, less screaming is progress! I would LOVE to have a little piggie, I hear they have very entertaining personalities! Definitely send updates after the vet!

This morning there were about 10 of the White Giant flock out grazing when I got up. They never made it to their coop last night. Now I'm going to have to build a trap of some kind to catch them and confine them to a coop and run. Naughty bunch they are. One rooster with his pullets following close to him. He struts like a proud young fellow with them in tow.

Now I'm going to have to build a trap of some kind to catch them and confine them to a coop and run. Naughty bunch they are. One rooster with his pullets following close to him. What a naughty bunch! First they're trying to behead you and now they're blatantly disregarding your rules Like my children! Hahaha, I love chickens.

I've been working on the run for my chickens, first babies I've had in a long time. Roberto runs up to me every time I open the top of the tank we're using for a brooder... he's decided he likes to sit on my head. I know in my mind that his amazing personality will change as he goes through roo puberty, but I don't want him to change. I love his sweet little fluffy butt just the way he is.
