What did you do with your flock today?

Today's goodies! Did not expect Velma to lay an olive egg. I'm very happy. Thought that gold crele legbars laid cream to brown eggs. @Shetland lover

What a beautiful shade of green!

Not sure as I've never had any legbars but some sources say white, some say blue or green! The gold creele aren't a different breed, just a different colour variation of the cream legbar, much like white legbars, according to the breed society?

I had a surprise aerial landing on my shoulder this morning while getting feed out of bin for one of the pens. Honey, a Cubalaya x American Game landed on me wanting breakfast. She may be a roo yet as that is what I was re homing to my place. It's hard to believe that a rooster could get this tame without any special daily treatment. This little roo or pullet now comes to meet me every morning and her Indio x American Game buddy is right behind her. He is definitely a roo with spurs starting to develop. He's kind of an awkward bumbling type of guy. He has a neck as long as his body and that is what makes him awkward when eating I think. The 3rd new kid in the lot is an EE roo x American Game that is simply gorgeous. He is standoffish but will come to the feeder as long as I don't stay to close. Those 3 stick together throughout the day fending for themselves on tender greens and bugs until the evening meal. They hang out with the Cornish Cross girls when not out doing their thing.

Wish we could see them! They sound like beauties! And how nice that you have one visiting! I had an Ameraucana rooster that was like that from birth. Just super brave and curious and wanted to be where I was. He was the most wonderful boy till his hormones hit.

I’m sorry your RIR boys are being so bad! Last night I let out my Cooplex teens and the Ducky’s and two of the teenage boys hanged up on Ducky Jr. and they no doubt would have murdered him unsupervised. He’s molting something fierce and not managing it well, so he’s pale and hunched up and a bit thin. They saw major weakness and beelined straight for it! They better watch it because I have low tolerance for that stuff too—they will go to auction in a heartbeat if they keep doing that to my sweeter birds. It’s especially frustrating cuz one of them I’m very excited about for breeding. He’s a gorgeous satin boy!

I hope you are able to manage with the lipomas. My husband has a few of those and has had a couple removed. Most of his are small but the one in his arm started getting annoying and now he has a small hole in his skin from having it taken out! I empathize trying to do chicken chores when you have debilitating issues or pain—my back just hasn’t been the same since I herniated a disc partially and some days it’s just too much. And I HATE not being able to do things my way when I want them done. 🤪

Hope everyone cooperates today!

Heading out soon for our trip. Did a quick rearrange so the geese are locked up so our neighbor won't have to deal with our guard goose Rowan. He should be able to do everything without having to come into contact with him. Mojo and Jazzy are pussycats so no worries there. He just feels nervous about horses and pigs but he's also cared for both before. Other horses and pigs from the past are why he's nervous of them, but mine are prone to avoiding strangers so shouldn't be any problems there.
Ugh. Hope everything goes well!
Hubby's staying home so he'll take care of all the dogs and kitties. He'll also give Goose and Fox their medications. Goose for valley fever and Fox for her thyroid.

I hope he enjoys your sweet babies and learns to love and trust big and unique animals.
Best to you and the girls in your travels 💕. I hope you have a blast and all stay the course whilst you are away.
Enjoy the theme 😄💕🌺🌻🌺

One of the things I'm missing now is having my wife take pictures with/for me. We both used to photograph a local rodeo as well as motorcycle events and she would get shots I didn't see. One day one of our granddaughters will be here and we will get some of our chickens photographed being crazy.

Checked on the eggs my hens are brooding on, and found one that had been cracked and filled with bacteria.

... It was moderately disgusting.

Other than that it was a pretty average day. Watched the ducks play in the thunderstorm in the evening. They're adorable!
Ducks in a thunderstorm sounds awesome! Would love some photos ♡

K. Got my kitty condo floor cleaned and grouted this morning.

Got a call yesterday saying a stand needed more bags, they have been having good sales. Today got a call another stand is sold out. Back to cutting and washing and sewing bags. Feels good to be back in the saddle. Need 45 bags in.. a week to get me caught up 🤪 Wish I could fundraise for KCCP this quickly and well.
