I need to get on the ball here! I fed my chickies lots of cool stuff this summer, but I ran out of garden. I remember the first watermelon and how they all flew away in terror. There was so much dust and poop flying that the cut watermelon was filthy!! Me too. I was soooo

. But I got over it. The last real treat was mealworms. I am getting so many beetles I am running out of places to put them, so I gave lots to the birds and it made us both happy. I started reading about sprouting wheat on one of the other threads and started a few last night. Tomorrow I will make them some warm food. They need it.

Yesterday tossed out a tomato and one picked it up and ran with her sisters hot on her trail it was like a football game so I tossed out 3 more so they would each have their own they gobbled them up in no time.

Mine had seedless grapes, fresh cranberries, pumpkin seeds, romaine lettuce, and grape tomatoes....I guess they eat better than we do!

Our girls have been getting warm, moist mash with ground muskrat in it for the past couple of weeks. The muskrat is cooked. They love it and need the extra animal protein as they're coming out of molt. It's winter too! Regards, Woody

My chickens got alfalfa pellets softened by fresh butter milk, with Raisens mixed in and a pumpkin bagel all torn up. They went wild.
