What do i use to catch my chickens when they escape

Assuming your chickens love treats, use some bread. Through some bread into wherever you are trying to get your chickens, and hopefully (if they like bread and if you have their attention) they will run in to retrieve the bread and you can quickly close the gate.

Some people use the chicken hook but I personally don't agree with this.

Also, it depends on how friendly/trusting your chickens are. Some more information might help.

Hopefully they haven’t gone far? Are accustomed to the sound of a treat bag or something else you do before you give them something they really like? That may help lure them in.

I either A) pick mine up and carry them, B) do the treat call "Who wants bugs!" which makes them come running, or C) herd them in. This is in the order of most to least effective lol

I've tried herding just a flock of four chickens.... LOL didn't go well.

I have a stick. No I don't beat them. I get behind them and tap it loudly on the ground. And I screech rather loudly. GET IN THE COOOOOOOPPPPP. I think they get in because they want me to shut up. And I praise them when they go in. Good girl. Thank you baby. etc.

Chickens herd better than cows. I herded both. If you just need to catch them wait until dark. they can't see in the dark and you can catch them
Some times I ask if they want meal worms.

While training them at the same time. I have my birds trained to "Get Up" when I want them to get on the roost. Again praise again.
