what do yo feed your chickens to snack on

Before i started raising chickens, i was under the impression that chickens were vegetarians (don't know how i missed the whole worm thing), and i'm pretty sure most people don't think of a chicken ever eating meat.

I sometimes think if I were to fall down in the yard (I'm old

) My chicks would probably EAT ME!

I made the foolish mistake once or twice of going to the chicken coop with short pants on revealing a rash on my leg - and proved this theory. They were on me immediately and drew blood more than once. OUCH!

We have given them just about everything you can imagine but cottage cheese seems to be their favorite snack. When we let them loose int he yard they like to sit under the bird feeder and get what falls on the ground too.

in southern california, my girls snack of choice is tortillas . . . I can always get them in the coop tossing pieces of tortillas. They never seem to catch on they'll be locked up after eating them

mine get any scrap they will eat. Their favorite is pasta. i also grow winter wheat as a cover crop on my garden and they get to run to it, or i serve them on bad days.

My coop sits among fruit trees. My girls get all kinds of fallen fruit and love it. It's a toss up as to who gets the watermelon rinds though, the Koi love it as well as cabbage so my girls usually lose out to the Koi, it's a closer walk to the pond than the coop.
