What do you do with all those eggs?

I don't think it's a super great idea to sell them, you could get in a lot of trouble if someone gets sick.

It used to be people did not even think like this. I am stuck back there, where neighbors appreciated and relied on each other. I would add, ok to sell but buy from a reliable source. I wash all of mine with egg wash and take great care of my eggs and have clean nests if you live near the Suwannee River... I will give you some. Lol

We eat a lot of eggs, I give them to coworkers and friends, and my parents and sister actually buy them from me! I tell them they can have them for free, but they insist on giving me $5 a dozen. Pastured eggs at the store are upwards of $8 a dozen in my neck of the (not) woods, so I guess I will accept the donations with grace. There goes 3-5 dozen a week.
I pickle them, soy sauce brine them, steam them, and bake with them. Having too many eggs is a happy "problem" to have.
Oh, also feed them to the dogs, and to any birds that could use the extra protein.

I'm getting up to 10 eggs a day and am quickly running out of options for what to do with them. Short of chucking them, that is.

My friends are all stocked up, we are sick of eating eggs and now we have a backlog in the 20's. So, what are some things you guys do to use up those extra eggs? Today's basket (from yesterday and today)

You can sell them. Or hatch some chicks. You could also donate them to im sure.

I gave 18 away today and ate 2 this morning. Chucked about 9ish last night because they were icky (dirty feet on the girls and an egg eater). So I'm making a dent.

A few things I do with extra eggs;

Not really a sale so to say, but I give a small circle of friends eggs, and if they ask, or they may have seen, in my foyer, entrance way, where nobody really watches but when answering the door, is a cute little piggy bank (except it's not a pig, it's a ceramic red hen bank), and a polite sign that says, "I'll never sell you an egg, or accept a dime you hand me, but my chickens will. They eat the contents of this bank, and then some. When I go to town to buy feed, It's always nice to find something here before I go. Don't tell me what you put in, or when. Don't think it's something expected every time you leave, or counted like that, I just take what I find and add it to the hen's pay, they do most of the work, and appreciate your support, whenever you have a couple of bucks to throw in". I find quite a bit in there, probably more than I'd get selling at $x per dozen.

But I still have eggs left over often. If I get more than 3 dozen around, and one of my 3 one gallon jars is free, I'll pickle a jar full. I love pickled eggs, especially spicy hot and lots of mustard in the pickling juice. When I give one of these away, eyes really light up. I tell 'em just save the jar, and find me some more big jars like that. If they try to pay, I tell them the hen by the door will take some money but I won't.

Every once in a while I'll come home and find a big bag of my brand of laying pellets leaning on my front door, and just a few days ago I came home to two five gallon buckets of whole corn by the door.

Also my Coon Hound likes eggs, when I have time to fix my own breakfast, weekends, and a few weekdays, he usually gets an egg or two scrambled in his dog food bowl, then his regular kibble on top of it (and bacon, or sausage juice too). He guards chickens that's how they pay him back.

I have no trouble getting rid of eggs. We use a good few ourselves with breakfast, baking and give some to the dogs. We also give a good few away ti family and friends. I also sell some I don't advertise just through word of mouth but its enough to cover the cost of feed. I also use them to barter for example there is a saw mill nearby and I trade them eggs for sawdust.
