What do you do with all those eggs?

What do you do with extra eggs?

Keep fewer birds. :D
I sell to a few folks, selling to the public can make everything exponentially complicated.
It has stayed pretty well in balance, but now I have 8dz eggs in the fridge,
should have sold a few birds last fall and will try to sell some here soon.
Too many eggs is another form, or consequence, of 'chicken math'.
Good Point!!!!! Egg Math?

I get burried in eggs each spring, but as summer progresses i get fewer eggs as i get some broodys and hens steeling nests. And winter time i get enough eggs for my family. If i reduced the flock it would not be sufficent for cold months.
its not a problem for me as i can always find an avenue for my extra eggs, sell or donate. And people are so gratefull to get them.

From what i can see if you have fewer tham 150 birds you can sell eggs from your farm with very little effort. Also i would highly recommend you check your local food pantries and churches before you throw them out. There are people who live paycheck to paycheck and would love to have them. Refrigerated eggs keep longer and the above instructions specify they must be refrigerated.
I sell and donate eggs and use the oldest ones for my family, and in 30 years have never cracked open one that was bad.
Thank you for sharring your bounty with those less fortunate and blessed with excess!
Here are the egg-selling rules for West Virginia, if somebody here wants to sell'em:

Another (weird) idea if you have a lot of eggcess eggs: Mix them with linseed-oil and rust to produce your own red barn paint.
In the past farmers here made their own barn paint out of linseed-oil, rust and whatever protein they had on the farm: Diary farmers used milk, pig farmers used pig's blood, eggs from chickens and ducks were also used. That is the likely reason why most barns here in the U.S. are dark red.

Homemade pasta uses a lot of eggs. My SIL gave me a pasta cutter, but I’ve only done it a couple times. I also have one of those little boiler cookers. Plus one of these sandwich makers. Any different way to fix them to eat! Crafts, I’d love to learn pysanky, but I have carved a few and embroidery too.
Sadly, I throw a lot away too. :(

Interesting!
I used a piece of steel wool in a cup of tea to make a stain that looks like weathered wood.

I get 6-7 a day on average even through the winter. I only have 8 layers now but they are young and healthy girls. I share lots with family but every now and then I post on Craigslist/farm and garden. There are many people with adds selling a few dozen or directing you to a farmers market. I have a few CL family regulars and a baker that wants all I will sell her. I also do not charge what I could for them as part of my goal was to pass on my good fortune. If I get some money to help with feed it is a good deal. The baker also freezes her eggs. I like the idea of quiche and freezing it. Even with just me and hubby I never get overly stocked up for long. It seems pretty tragic to toss them out. I also just picked up 5 more chicks. plan to keep selling for fun and break even. Big demand.
