I think that's all. Also, is anybody knows any ideas for companions for my 2 drakes (they live to together and absolutely ADORE each other, but I want them to have some other friends in case something happens to one of them) that'd be awesome! Thanks!

@silkiechickens8 That's quite a breathtaking list of poultry you have! Wish I could be Old McDonald again (lived on 25 acres years ago) and have a lot of poultry varieties again but we retired to a small cottage and only 5 hens, no roos, allowed. That's ok - some cities don't allow poultry at all so we feel lucky. But it sure limits our choices for breeds.

So glad to hear you're rescuing a Leghorn. How old is she? White Legs usually can lay very well into their 6th, 7th, 8th year. Brown Legs are the next best variety. This was our lovely alpha White Leg leader who played nice with the gentler breeds for 3 years before going bonkers on her flockmates. I actually was surprised she played nice for so long before we had to re-home her since Legs have a feisty reputation.

Our Buff Leghorn went cannibalistic at only one-yr-old before we decided it best to re-home her too.

Hope you can find some pals for your two drakes. I was very interested in the smaller Welsh Harlequins for their calmer quieter demeanor compared to the very noisy Pekins (adorable though!), but I can't comfortably accommodate both chickens and ducks in our tiny yard

It'd be nice if owners would post pics of their lovely flocks.

The hen is only a year old. She looks healthy, but I'm going to be VERY careful with the quarantine. I have two white leghorns already so I'm hoping this one will kind of merge into their small group. Sometimes small flocks are good and you can focus on the birds you have, and plus LESS CLEANUP. God, I DREAD the days that I have to go out to the coop and muck it, it's a nightmare, but they're worth it. My Walsh Harlequin drake is the sweetest thing ever. He loves his treats and he's not at all shy when he wants to be held. Ducks are VERY messy though, but their quirky personalities make it well worth it. I'll defiantly post some pictures later today.

You are lucky to get a Leg that young. Ours had major molting episodes and got reclusive during her molts. She came back with a sassy attitude and beautiful feathers and back to being a kind flockmate. We just can't figure why she went bonkers at 3 yrs old but think maybe she didn't like our adding 2 new pullets to the flock. She had a tendency to be an active independent forager and not really the kind to hang out with other chickens -- although we had one Silkie that loved to follow her around. We tried to give the White Leg a chance to settle down but she only got more aggressive and a friend took her into her egg-layer flock and she did fine. The Buff Leg just went cannibalistic when she turned a year old -- really aggressive and we didn't hesitate to re-home her too.

I like ducks and geese since we had them on the farm. But the cute Pekins are a really noisy messy bunch so I knew better than to add them to my tiny yard. I looked into the smaller calmer Welsh Harlequins and they were so cute. Again, no room in my tiny yard for ducks who really love their water. Looking forward to your photos.

Just walked away from the silver laced Wyandotte chick cage at bomgaars- hardest thing I've ever done! Only because I have 6 wellies coming in a couple weeks!

I really wanted a Dominique at the feed store and knew the hatchery they ordered from -- it takes will power to walk away from the chick bin every Spring!

New to chickens this year. 5 week old flock of....

4 RIR
3 Buff Orpington
3 White Leghorn
3 Barred Rock (two of which I'm sure are roo's)
2 Easter Eggers (sold as Araucana but after investigating this site I'm convinced they're EE's)

Already planning additional coop space to raise more!
