What is your question about the edit feature?

People used to report themselves by mistake on the old site. It's not a problem.


This is not really correct. We have developed a workaround so you can use the classifieds as an auction. There is a template for you to c&p into your classified. Bids need to be posted. If you want to follow an auction closely, there is the instant email feature for replies to subscribed posts, which you can select at the bottom of the page below any thread / reply box.

Nifty posted quite a bit about making this decision, before this change, and talked about some of the tradeoffs involved, as well as the pressing need to make a change.

I can't post fast enough to not have to read 2 pages to catch up. Not the site completely, but I'm slow. yipes!

I click edit and it won't let me edit anything once I get to the post. I tried over and over and still won't let me do it . It was fine before.

See I forgot the other site already. LOL I was just afraid I'd get myself pointed and booted out. ha ha

Oh and I can't see any smilies or images on here today.

Not trying to be a pain, just thought I'd mention the problem.

BTW way I'm so thankful that you mods are her to help answer questions and try to keep the peace. Bet all your stress levels are way up right now.

It will be fine. Just wanted to mention things and see what can or can;t be done about them. I'm really thankful for my membership right now though. I feel for anyone having to see all the ads and movements. But I love me some BYC! Same people different place is all.

it sounds like the most dire upsetting issues right now are the auctions and the sidebar squashing everything down.

First impression: YUK! ICK! ACK, PHOOEY! And SLOW! veeeeeerrrrryyyyy ssslllllloooooowwwwww. And as it loads up, stuff disappears, reappears...drives me NUTS. (Ok, short trip, but still...)

With one of the first posters on most of the comments--too bright, too much 'stuff' over on the side (reminds me of Yahoo news, and that's NOT a compliment). Much harder to see and read; one thing I loved about the old one was I could sit back and read it without my glasses on--this one, there's no way.

As people upgrade sites, there's something that seems to be lost in translation--that there are still those of us out here who are on dialup connections--lousy ones--and/or have older computers that just can't handle upgrading browsers, new platforms/programs that take more memory than we've got.... pages freeze, then suddenly go all over the place as what we were TRYING to do takes effect....

I mean, whaddya want us to do, spend money on something other than our chickens??!!

I know you guys worked really really hard on this, but....I'd have to rate it at first blush as a bad move for those without hotshot computers and bad eyes.

yep, my eyes are killing me, I used to see it all bigger, now with the stuff on the side it's a pain and I have to use my glasses as well. And it's still hard for me. I tried to fix the width in my settings but it did nothing. I had the side bar ads and who is on etc, it's just annoying. Also so slow to get to posts and searches. Not thrilled. Hope this does not happen to the self reliance forums!

this is so amusing lol. ANYWAY there was a post about how to make more than 10 comments show up on a page, I cant find it now. anyone can help? I would like to set it to show more than 10 comments in a thread at a time.
and the new thumbs up at the bottom of each post, it says you are over the limit for rating content. please try again later....seriously?? you cant like more than a couple posts in a day? that makes no sense lol. why are you limited?
I dont think things are to bright, I dont think things are difficult and the sky is not falling . change really does terrify some doesnt it. good job on the new BYC, it has its glitches but am sure it will get worked out soon!

I'm going to give it a few days before I vote. It's sort of like a good friend had a face lift and I don't quite recognize them. So, we'll see.

Or like we were a bunch of chickens who were just moved to a new coop. It'll take us a few days to get used to it and settle in, and for our peeps to rearrange the perches, waterers, and feed buckets to good positions.

I appreciate the work that went into this change and would encourage those upset w/ the changes (it's so true: change IS difficult!) to give it some time. We clunk along...

I love being able to hover over a first post and see the beginning of it. It can be hard to summarize a post adequately in a title. This way, if folks get to the point quickly in the post, I can see if I really want to click on it. Great feature.

Actually, I am just hitting "quote" like I used to do. If something new is happening, I don't realize it. But "thanks" anyway.

The white is too bright. It's giving me a headache. I really don't know why we have Latest Reviews on every screen. I really am not interested in what people think about different breeds. I'm not looking for a new one and if I were, I know where to look. That just seems like clutter to me.
