What do you think of this video?

I have a pond with plenty of bluegill fish. I will be catching a few and feeding my birds that.
A year ago when I had birds, they would attack my cat for her food. It was a pate. Every now and then I would take out 2-3 cans and open them up in the park area.

We have teeth. Not sure how many people eat corn without chewing it first!

Yes, humans have teeth. But if you want to keep your teeth, I don't think you would be chewing the whole corn I feed my chickens. That whole corn is hard as a rock. But chickens eat rocks (grit) to help break up food like hard whole corn in their gizzards. I though maybe whole corn would be broken up in the chicken's gizzard and not just passed through whole into their droppings.

I was thinking about the issue of whole corn and if my chickens are actually getting any benefit from the corn or if it just pases through into their poo. Unfortunately, we still have sub freezing temps where I live so I can't really examine the frozen poo for signs of whole corn. When we finally get our spring thaw, I'll have to examine the droppings to see if there are whole kernels of corn in it, or not. Regardless, I have already decided to buy cracked corn next time as my birds no longer seem interested in eating much of the whole kernel corn.

She's just another half baked youtuber.
Folks who don't think for themselves, especially newbies, will take everything she says as 'gospel' and spread it far and wide.
I abhor mis-information.

You know, I thought you were being too critical on poor Becky. But, I am one of those newbies who actually watch all those YouTube videos and try to learn from them. YouTube has some great videos, but yes, it also has some misinformation.

:lau Dear Wife gets upset with me when I yell at some YouTube "tool guy expert" who is showing you how to use. for a make believe example, a left handed monkey wrench when clearly he should be using the right handed monkey wrench for the job. Some YouTube videos are downright dangerous as when you see some "newbie" with a chainsaw sawing off the part of the branch that is supporting his ladder (so many bad things in that statement if you have experience with chainsaws). Yeah, bad videos like that deserve to be pulled from YouTube, but they are there and someone without experience might not know how bad/dangerous that activity could be.

Oh yes, I get the difference - I'm sure we've all tried biting into an unpopped popcorn kernel, and it's hard as rock. But that's why birds need grit and gizzards, and people don't.

I don't feed corn, but I do sometimes see partial grains in chicken poop (it's sad that I can even ID which chicken pooped what), so on occasion I'll put some grit in the feed for select birds. Generally it's my special needs bird that needs it as she doesn't seem inclined to pick up grit on her own.

Bless her, she’s “trying” and means well. After 5 years of birds it’s easy.
1. Healthy feed and water daily
2. 14+ hours of light (even winter (light bulb))
3. clean coop weekly
4. personality balanced flock aka minimal stress
- 1 rooster w/ 12-15 hens
- A coop and run that has sufficient space for your flock
- 10 sq ft / bird
5. We have 35 birds two are roosters 3 legacy birds = 20ish eggs daily - Bro it’s enough

Yeah she needs help and doesn’t know it. Socrates said garbage in garbage out (GIGO). Then he told his buddy we owe so and so a cock (debt) and died. :lau

She is talking about treats. A little extra corn thrown to the ground as a treat would not harm a bird (imho). And look closely at the label of your chicken food, you may find that the corn has been replaced with soy-bean meal, because that is much cheaper than corn
Agree on the fish! Not so much worried about the salt, but the influence on the egg's taste!
I feed my Ducks a little cat food in the morning and in the evening and they have laid eggs throughout the whole winter. Not one egg per duck per day, but ~2 eggs per duck per 3 days. And they love their humon cat-kibble feeding time!

NO!

Soybean Meal is NOT a replacement for corn, it compliments corn since it is a source of Amino Acids while corn is a source of Energy in a feed.

There is no replacement for a well working brain!
Brains are awesome! - I wish everyone had one…

She is right on one thing Animal Protein does help your birds. But you can use it as treats. Leftover scraps from the kitchen. Our feed store sell fish pellets for $18.50 a 50# sack. Thrown as treats in the winter it helps reduce food consumption that goes way high during the molt when they need the extra protein to grow feathers. I gave my chickens killed stuff from around the place and they like that. You got to cut it open first or they don't know how to start on it. I gave them a snake and butchered deer carcass and they were like, oh no, too much for them. ;)

Although, I have watched other videos and was like "What?"
