What do you think the next move should be in Vacaville regarding backyard chickens?

Josh, it's kind of a long story. Reader's Digest version is that there is ambiguity in our city code, some people are saying chickens are allowed, some are not. On Tuesday evening city council decided not to amend or research anything, including clarifying the current code. Basically we are back to square one because the code can be interpreted in different ways.
Thank you for your encouragement!
If nobody has been cited or ordered to remove then they are just blowing smoke up your a**. It sounds to me like you have some illinformed whiners who have no law to back up their talk. I am a mail man and dog poop is worse than all of my 49 chickens combined. Sure on a hot humid day you might think there might be chickens around here somewhere. I did say 49 and some of them are meat birds and they stink when they pop out of the shell. Anyways I think you should be ok. Good Luck again.

They absolutely are ill informed. No one seems to be able to give a solid yes or no... It is ridiculous and so frustrating! I'm not getting rid of my chickens, and if I'm ever cited I'll get a lawyer and fight it. Pretty sure I'd win.

I am not judging you or anything but you may just be getting yourself worked up a bit. Lol. I understand. You should be fine. I love my birds too and they are a part of my life. But this is why I love the country. I am in a county without even any building codes. Not that I would build haphazardly but nobody bothers me a bit with my birds. And they all love the eggs and cornish x too. Good luck to you and your friends there. And your birds.

Everyone is worked up about it at the moment because of the city council meeting. I honestly don't think there is all that much to worry about, it's just frustrating that none of the city employees seem to know their @$$ from their elbow... Haha. It would be nice to get a solid yes or no.

I do really wish that person would come back and give more specifics on the situation. From first hand experience I know that when there is a code violation, they do not hand out fines as a first resort. There is a notice and a chance is given to correct the issue. I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I do wish we had more specifics.

If you are not currently a member of the Meetup group vacaville backyard homesteaders please join. I posted a suggested meetup called " follow up to vacaville city council meeting. I need two more people to rsvp before the meetup can be opened. I think we should come together as a group and discuss our option before acting alone. There is more power in numbers
