what do you use to worm chickens

As a preventative (need to get rid of what you have first with one of the above choices) you can put apple cider vinegar in their water every few weeks, seems to work great for mine.

I have been using an herbal wormer for nearly a year and have not seen anymore worms in our flock. We add 1 cup to a 50lb bag of feed and it last us quite a long time. We also add Organic Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar at the rate of 1 tbsp per gallon to their water as well.

We purchased it at www.theholistichorse.com.

We have friends who also highly recommend Molly's Herbal at http://fiascofarm.com/herbs/wormer.htm

Good
luck!

Alot of people on here speaking up about the ACV (apple cider vinegar). With this many people saying it has positive results I would say go for it.

I will also try this out. I plan on getting ACV and DE and putting them both in the barn to work.

LICE, MITES and WORMS are a part of the chicken world and there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

People on here are so very informative and helpful. They present thier findings and you can pick and choose how you want to treat your flock.

When you find a winner always post your experience.

What a great forum.

Can you put ACV in a galvanized waterer? If so, how much for a five gallon waterer (I usually only put about four gallons in it, it's too heavy for me otherwise!)?

K, the bottle states this:

30 ml of wazine to one gallon of water. for chicks up to 6 weeks of age.

Edited for correction:

60 ml of wazine to TWO gallon of water for chicks over 6 weeks of age.

I use the 30m/gallon and I put in enough water that the chicken I have will FINISH the water off in a 24 hour period.

I then give them regular water with a bit of vitamines and minerals in it.

I do this for a few days and WATCH for worms in the poop.

You can fee yogurt at this time too to get the gut back in order.

Then after a few days of regular water I repeat the process, VERY important to repeat.

Reinbeau, do you have one of those little cihck galvanized waterers that use the one pint plastic screw on ?

I use these to test out my question like you have. I have ruined a few, but hey they are cheap.

I use garlic flakes, lots of them and mix up a garlic mash in warm bread. That seems to work well and is a good immune booster apparently.
