Yes they love the poopMy dogs don't pay any attention to the chickens, other than to sniff them once in a while. They sure love the poo though.

Aww the poor dear. Thank you for saving her! Yeah instincts/trauma are pretty hard to train away I donāt blame her for that!Food.. everything is food to my dog. I picked her up off the side of the road in the sticks of farmland north Louisiana about 10yrs ago and she was not starving, but def not well fed, full of fleas/ticks, and dirty. She had to hunt for her food and prolly fought for it too. Anything that is not human (including other dogs) is considered a food source for her. Over the years I have tried to curb this natural survival instinct, but to no avail.
I have to segregate the dogs from the chickens and the tractor provides adequate protection, but if there is a chance for her to get after 'em, count on a chicken dinner.
One thing for certain "that dog'll hunt!"
thatās a valid fear! They can be viciousMy mixed terrier loves chicks but scared of adult chickens.
Yes they can! My cats are all terrified of the chickens. Especially mama hens with chicks. They've been chased out of the yard so many times by angry mama's that they won't come in the back yard at all if my chickens are loose.thatās a valid fear! They can be vicious
Thatās so sweet I have a hen name Rocky! Rocky and Bullwinkle are my sibling hensOur dogs seem to think of them as siblings. When Rocky (our inside rooster) was still alive our smaller lab/pitt would play with Rocky, tail wagging and whining and Rocky would dance and flutter lol.
Our big 120# black collie/rott likes to protect, sniff and make sure everyone is okay. He loved having our new chicks in the house- black Australorps, so he thought they were like his babies. Goes out and just lays next to their run when outside lol wish I had pictures but none ony phone
Care to share a picture of your dog? I was seriously considering a mountain cur before we settled on weimaranerMy Mountain Cur/Mountain Fiest mix sees chickens as a tv show to watch while chewing the daylights out of his favorite toy.
